Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an imaging method that can be applied over stretchable conductive-fabric materials to realize soft and wearable pressure sensors through current injections and voltage measurements at electrodes placed at the boundary of a conductive medium. In common EIT systems, the voltage data are serially measured by means of multiplexers, and are hence collected at...
Transparent and stretchable energy storage devices have attracted significant interest due to their potential to be applied to biocompatible and wearable electronics. Supercapacitors that use the reversible faradaic redox reaction of conducting polymer have a higher specific capacitance as compared with electrical double-layer capacitors. Typically, the conducting polymer electrode is fabricate...
We demonstrate pulsewidth-stretchable Er-doped femtosecond mode-locked fiber lasers by incorporating a tunable short-pass edge filter into the ring cavity. Pulsewidth stretch ratio of 3.53 (882/250) can be efficiently achieved under a temperature variation of 4oC.

We developed means to produce wafer scale, high-quality graphene films as large as 3 in. wafer size on Ni and Cu films under ambient pressure and transfer them onto arbitrary substrates through instantaneous etching of metal layers. We also demonstrated the applications of the large-area graphene films for the batch fabrication of field-effect transistor (FET) arrays and stretchable strain gaug...
The precisely controlled buckling of stiff thin films (e.g., Si or GaAs nano ribbons) on the patterned surface of elastomeric substrate (e.g., poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS)) with periodic inactivated and activated regions was designed by Sun et al. [Sun, Y., Choi, W.M., Jiang, H., Huang, Y.Y., Rogers, J.A., 2006. Controlled buckling of semiconductor nanoribbons for stretchable electronics. Natu...
Complex SoC imply the seamless integration of numerous IPs performing different functions and operating at different clock frequencies. The integration of several heterogeneous components into a single system gives rise to new challenges. Major issue includes controlling the clock frequencies of the different modules. As chips become faster and larger, designers face significant challenges incl...
A collection of materials and device architectures are introduced for thin, stretchable arrays of ion sensors that mount on open cellular substrates to facilitate solution exchange for use in biointegrated electronics. The results include integration strategies and studies of fundamental characteristics in chemical sensing and mechanical response. The latter involves experimental measurements a...
Cardiovascular medicine has benefited, both diagnostically and therapeutically, from dramatic advances that have occurred in catheter-based techniques. Today, as standardof-care, we routinely measure pressure and flow in vessels, cardiac chambers and across valves, image the vasculature at high resolution, and therapeutically balloon-dilate and stent arteries and other cardiovascular structures...
Research in stretchable electronics involves fundamental scientific topics relevant to applications with importance in human healthcare. Despite significant progress in active components, routes to mechanically robust construction are lacking. Here, we introduce materials and composite designs for thin, breathable, soft electronics that can adhere strongly to the skin, with the ability to be ap...
