Knowledge of taxis (directed swimming) in the Archaea is currently expanding through identification of novel receptors, effectors, and proteins involved in signal transduction to the flagellar motor. Although the ability for biological cells to sense and swim toward hydrogen gas has been hypothesized for many years, this capacity has yet to be observed and demonstrated. Here we show that the av...
To improve the transport efficiency and to reduce the traveller stress, we introduce a recommender system for bush taxis in Ivory Coast whose main objective is to propose to pedestrians potential means of transportation in their neighborhood whose destination match their own destination. The prediction of the next location relies on a mobility model called Mobility Markov Chain. One of the stre...
The classical macroscopic chemotaxis equations have previously been derived from an individual-based description of the tactic response of cells that use a “run-and-tumble” strategy in response to environmental cues [17,18]. Here we derive macroscopic equations for the more complex type of behavioral response characteristic of crawling cells, which detect a signal, extract directional informati...
The objective of this text is to analyze the power relations between tax administration and entrepreneurs Taxis- motos in context collection taxes relating public transport activities Korhogo . qualitative approach was favored production analysis data. results were produced from interviews carried out with motorcycle taxi entrepreneurs, city hall officials officials. transcribed edited manually...
The chemoreceptor Tcp mediates taxis to citrate. To identify citrate-binding residues, we substituted cysteine for seven basic or polar residues that are chosen based on the comparison of Tcp with the well-characterized chemoreceptors. The results suggest that Arg-63, Arg-68, Arg-72, Lys-75, and Tyr-150 (and probably other unidentified residues) are involved in the recognition of citrate.
R esearchers recently gathered at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, to share their accomplishments at the 13th annual ACM Conference on Ubiquitous Computing. 1 This multidisciplinary conference featured advances in sensing technologies and activity-recognition algorithms, novel applications, and results from end-user evaluations. Smartphones continued to provide a versatile research platfo...
INTRODUCTION Trauma is a major cause of death and disability worldwide. A quarter of all fatalities due to injury occur due to road traffic crashes with 90% of the fatalities occurring in low- and medium-income countries. Poor compliance with the use of seat belts is a problem in many developing countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of seatbelt compliance in motor vehicles ...
Phyllotactic patterns (from the Greek phyllo (leaf) and taxis (order)) arise whenever a vascular plant produces at its growing tip a series of similar botanical elements, such as leaves, scales or flowerets. The most common and well known of such patterns is one where the elements are arranged in two families of spirals winding in opposite directions. The numbers of spirals in each of these fam...
Currently, opinions on whether and how ride-hailing services have impacted the use of traditional taxis are divided, no consensus has been reached. This paper used panel data from 44 cities in China 2010 to 2016 estimate impact by applying multiperiod difference-in-difference (multiperiod DID) method conducting a series robustness tests. The results show that large, negative taxis, this is more...
