The objective of this study was to infer the opportunity cost of land use of the Feijão River watershed (São Carlos-SP, Brazil), in order to estimate the financial resources necessary to compensate landowners willing to convert their production areas into areas of environmental preservation. Net values were estimated by calculating the Annual Value and the Net Present Value of each activity. Th...
Knowledge of weather, particularly precipitation, is fundamental to interpreting watershed and hydrologic processes. The long-term weather record in the Goodwater Creek Experimental Watershed (GCEW) complements hydrologic and water quality data in the region. The GCEW also is the core of the Central Mississippi River Basin (CMRB) node of the Long-Term Agroecosystem Research network. Our objecti...
This paper reports the first record of the genus Homalictus from China. We describe and illustrate H. (H.) nabanensis sp. n. collected from the Naban River Watershed National Nature Reserve, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China. The type specimens are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.
This paper describes the recent expansion of the geographical distribution of Limnoperna fortunei (Dunker, 1857) in the Tietê River watershed, São Paulo State, Brazil. Estimations related to the velocity of invasion and its causes are presented. Ecological implications related to biodiversity and possible changes in the food chain are discussed.

prediction of climatic variables on a local scale by general circulation models of the atmosphere is impossible because the models have large-scale network of resolution. therefore, downscaling methods are used to solve this problem. since the climate change phenomenon can affect different systems such as, water resources, agriculture, environment, industry and economy as well, selection of the...

Misty MacDuffee sampling chinook and coho fry in a tributary of the Ecstall River. At 85,000 hectares, the Ecstall is the largest unlogged watershed on the North coast. It supports nine species of salmonids which spawn up to 96 km upstream and in more than one dozen of the watershed's tributaries and lakes.
the Four Corners and incorporates the geographic area of the four corners of the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. It is a watershed basin for the drainage of the San Juan River, which starts in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado and runs through a portion of Colorado before entering the northwest corner of New Mexico. The river, named Saint John by the Spanish explor...
The main goal of this study is to use "top-down"? approach to simulate catchment scale hydrologic processes, in terms of water partitioning, runoff generation, storage dynamics and human/water interaction, and therefore to obtain a comprehensive understanding on intra-annual water balance of watersheds. An evaporation model at seasonal scale is developed based on Budyko framework. A runoff gene...
