This paper investigates the issue of the internal stability of nonlinear delay systems controlled with a feedback law that performs exact input–output, linearization and delay cancellation. In previous works the authors showed that, unlike with the case of systems without state delays, when the relative degree is equal to the number of state variables and the output is forced to be identically ...

We consider proper 5-colourings of the kagome lattice. Proper q-colourings correspond to configurations in the zero-temperature q-state anti-ferromagnetic Potts model. Salas and Sokal have given a computer assisted proof of strong spatial mixing on the kagome lattice for q ≥ 6 under any temperature, including zero temperature. It is believed that there is strong spatial mixing for q ≥ 4. Here w...

We perform a detailed study of Gibbs-non-Gibbs transitions for the Curie-Weiss model subject to independent spin-flip dynamics (“infinite-temperature” dynamics). We show that, in this setup, the program outlined in van Enter, Fernández, den Hollander and Redig [3] can be fully completed, namely that Gibbs-non-Gibbs transitions are equivalent to bifurcations in the set of global minima of the la...

We study the fermion zero-mode dynamics for open strings ending on the giant graviton branes. For the open string ending on the Z = 0 brane, the quantization of the fermion zero-modes of boundary giant magnons reproduces the 256 states of the boundary degrees with the precise realization of the SU(2|2)×SU(2|2) symmetry algebra. Also for the open string ending on the Y = 0 brane, we reproduce th...

We study zero-temperature, stochastic Ising models σ on Z with (disordered) nearest-neighbor couplings independently chosen from a distribution μ on R and an initial spin configuration chosen uniformly at random. Given d, call μ type I (resp., type F) if, for every x in Z, σ x flips infinitely (resp., only finitely) many times as t → ∞ (with probability one) — or else mixed type M. Models of ty...

In this paper, we study a general linear networked system that contains a tunable memory subsystem; that is, it is decoupled from an optical field for state transportation during the storage process, while it couples to the field during the writing or reading process. The input is given by a single photon state or a coherent state in a pulsed light field. We then completely and explicitly chara...

We consider minimally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with a Chern-Simons term on a flat spatial two-torus in the limit when the torus becomes small. The zero modes of the fields then decouple from the nonzero modes and give rise to a spectrum of states with energies that are given by multiples of the square of the coupling constant. We discuss the determination of this low-energy spectrum, bo...

We study best response dynamics in continuous time for continuous concave-convex zero-sum games and prove convergence of its trajectories to the set of saddle points, thus providing a dynamical proof of the minmax theorem. Consequences for the corresponding discrete time process with small or diminishing step-sizes are established, including convergence of the fictitious play procedure.
