گیاه سنجد از تیره الاگناسه بصورت درخت دایمی می باشد . گیاه بومی نواحی شمالی آسیا تا هیمالیا و اروپا است و در ایران در نواحی استپی می روید. خواص درمانی بسیاری در مورد آن گزارش شده است که از جمله آنها می توان به اثرات ضد دردهای روماتوئیدی، ضدالتهاب ، ضدتب، قابض ، ضدنئوپلاسم و اثر التیام بخش بر روی زخم اشاره نمود.
