Aura is a sound synthesis engine built on top of W, a real-time message-passing object system. W/Aura supports audio, MIDI, and user-interface processing, with priority-based scheduling; it has the practical virtues of exibility, portability, and speed. We describe the current implementation, discuss its performance, and describe future plans.
