basil (ocimum basilicum l.) belongs to the lamiaceae family as a medicinal plant used in traditional medicine in iran. the purpose of this test is to evaluate the effect of nano fe-chelate under salinity levels on the plant physiology and morphology characteristics. in this experiment investigated the effect of nano fe-chelate and salinity stress on growth parameters, photosynthetic leaves rat...
The present study aimed to chemically characterize 31 accessions and seven cultivars of basil. The percentage composition of the essential oils of the accessions and cultivars was based on the 14 most abundant constituents: 1,8-cineole, linalool, methyl chavicol, neral, nerol, geraniol, geranial, methyl cinnamate, β-bourbonene, methyl eugenol, α-trans-bergamotene, germacrene-D, epi-α-cadinol, a...
Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is one of the most important medicinal and aromatic plants. Light intensity an indispensable factor for plants due to its effect on photosynthesis physiological processes. Here, we investigated impact light intensities harvesting times green purple basil. The experiment involved subjecting three different levels sunlight 12 days: complete—100%, 50%, 30%—sunlight. In ...
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of plant essential oils (EOs) in combination and to investigate the effect of food ingredients on their efficacy. The EOs assessed in combination included basil, lemon balm, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme. Combinations of EOs were initially screened against Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Pseudom...
Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum Linnaeus) is aromatic herb that has been utilized in traditional medicine. To improve the phytochemical constituents and pharmaceutical quality of sweet basil leaves, ultraviolet (UV)-B irradiation at different intensities (2.30, 3.60, and 4.80 W/m²) and durations (4, 6, 8, and 10-h) was applied at the post-harvest stage. Total flavonoid content (TFC) and total phe...

The quantitative analysis of salicylate provides useful information for the evaluation of metabolic processes in plants. We report a simple, noninvasive method to measure salicylate in situ in Ocimum basilicum leaves using reverse iontophoresis in combination with cyclic voltammetry at disposable screen-printed electrodes and the concentration of salicylate in basil leaves was found to be 3 mM.
