n this study 12 Reinforced Concrete Beams, tested under different amount of explosive (c4) air blast. Crack and damage pattern, support rotation (SR) and maximum and permanent displacement of Midspan (∆) are recorded. Then damaged beams were loaded to rupture. The experimental results showed: in 〖SR<3〗^° flexural cracks are generated, Midspan displacement vs scaled distance is nearly linear a...

We investigate the transfer of orbital angular momentum among multiple beams involved in a coherent Raman interaction. We use a liquid crystal light modulator to shape pump and Stokes beams into optical vortices with various integer values of topological charge, and cross them in a Raman-active crystal to produce multiple Stokes and anti-Stokes sidebands. We measure the resultant vortex charges...

The interaction between two parallel beams in one-dimensional discrete saturable systems has been investigated using lithium niobate nonlinear waveguide arrays. When the beams are separated by one channel and in phase it is possible to observe soliton fusion at low power levels. This result is confirmed numerically. By increasing the power, solitonlike propagation of weakly coupled beams occurs...

Novel hybrid-polarized vector beams with radial and azimuthal polarization states in arbitrary fan-sectors are generated and studied for manipulating surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). The method has high energy conversion efficiency based on an interferometric arrangement with a Dammann vortex phase grating. The polarization states of generated beams are measured by a linear polarizer and show...

We demonstrate the use of cylindrical vector beams - beams with spatially varying polarization - for detecting and preparing the spin of a warm rubidium vapor in a spatially dependent manner. We show that a modified probe vector beam can serve as an atomic spin analyzer for an optically pumped medium, which spatially modulates absorption of the beam. We also demonstrate space-variant atomic spi...

We investigate the spatially optical solitons shedding from Airy beams and anomalous interactions of Airy beams in nonlocal nonlinear media by means of direct numerical simulations. Numerical results show that nonlocality has profound effects on the propagation dynamics of the solitons shedding from the Airy beam. It is also shown that the strong nonlocality can support periodic intensity distr...

The main accelerator system of the proposed research facility FAIR is the two stage synchrotron complex SIS100/300, consisting of two separate synchrotron accelerators with equal circumferences. SIS100/300 shall provide beams of protons and heavy ions with high intensities and high energies. The existing GSI accelerators UNILAC and SIS18 shall serve as injector for SIS100/300. SIS100 will be de...

We study the free-propagation features of an optical field endowed with a non-uniform polarization pattern with elliptical symmetry. The fields derived in this way are called Elliptically Symmetric Polarized Beams (ESPB for short). Some properties of these fields are analysed. Moreover, it is shown how it is possible to obtain such light beams by applying the results to Bessel-Gauss beams.

We study linear and nonlinear self-accelerating beams propagating along circular trajectories beyond the paraxial approximation. Such nonparaxial accelerating beams are exact solutions of the Helmholtz equation, preserving their shapes during propagation even under nonlinearity. We generate experimentally and observe directly these large-angle bending beams in colloidal suspensions of polystyre...

We demonstrate that coherence vortices, singularities of the correlation function, generally occur in partially coherent electromagnetic beams. In successive cross sections of Gaussian Schell-model beams, their locus is found to be a closed string. These coherence singularities have implications for both interference experiments and correlation of intensity fluctuation measurements performed wi...
