The increasing use of a variety of postindustrial wastes believed to be benign in the compost process raises the concern of presence and toxicity of xenobiotics, defined as compounds that have been introduced into the environment by artificial means at any point in their useful cycle, and which may or may not later exert harmful influences if present in composts. Boron (B) is a trace element th...

Elemental phosphorus has been known for about 350 years. As a result of huge scientific interest, numerous textbooks are filled with information about this element, its different allotropes, and its compounds. [1] Like boron and carbon, the element features tremendous structural variability, resulting in great diversity of physical properties and chemical reactivity: White phosphorus, P4, forms...

Two unprecedented nickel-boron cluster-containing POMs have been isolated through a facile approach by the reactions of trivacant [A-α-SiW9O34](10-) and Ni(2+) in borate buffer. The {BO3} and {B2O4(OH)2} units enclosed in the Ni8 cluster of 1 and the Ni12 cluster of 2 play important templating roles in the assembly of the target compounds.

Two boron-rich chalcogenides B12S and B12Se isostructural to α-rhombohedral boron were synthesized by chemical reaction of the elements at high-pressure – high-temperature conditions. The crystal structures stoichiometries both compounds confirmed Rietveld refinement synchrotron X-ray diffraction data elemental analysis. experimental Raman spectra investigated for first time. All observed bands...

Calcium and boron as plant nutritional elements play major roles in plant physiological processes including regulating various cell and plant functions. Considering the importance of both elements, this study was conducted during 2010-2011 in the Experimental Asian Pear Orchard at Faculty of Agriculture, Tarbiat Modares University. Different concentrations of calcium chloride (0, 0.5 and 0.7 pe...

Boron arsenide, the typically-ignored member of the III–V arsenide series BAs–AlAs–GaAs– InAs is found to resemble silicon electronically: its Γ conduction band minimum is p-like (Γ15), not s-like (Γ1c), it has an X1c-like indirect band gap, and its bond charge is distributed almost equally on the two atoms in the unit cell, exhibiting nearly perfect covalency. The reasons for these are tracked...

Boron-containing compounds (BCC), particularly boronic acids and derivatives, are being increasingly tested as diagnostic therapeutic agents. Some effects of BCC involve phenomena linked to the action steroid or thyroid hormones; among these, on muscle mass basal metabolism. Additionally, some toxicology reports mammals, including humans, sound an alert concerning damage several systems, which ...

Borax is one of the compounds boron (B), which widely used as an anti-fungal, wood preservative, and antiseptic in cosmetics. Boron can form complexes with biomolecules such pyridoxine, so it interesting to know interaction between borax pyridoxine. This study seeks investigate complexation boron, obtained from borax, pyridoxine under various conditions time, temperature, amount The resulting c...
