Hossein Bashiribod,

For the first time in Iran, a number of 1736 sera samples of wild pigeons which were collected from different parts at Tehran, were investigated to determine the specific antiornithosis antibody using complement fixation test. In this study, 26,5 percent of samples represented ornithosis.

Various studies have been made on the antibody response in smallpox. In some of these haemagglutinin inhibition tests (HI) have been used for measurement of antibody (Collier & Schonfeld, 1950) in others, complement-fixation tests (CFT), precipitation tests (pt.) and HI tests (Herrlich, Mayr & Mahnel, 1959) or CF, HI and neutralization tests (Downie & McCarthy, 1958). In the present study, all ...

The incidence of a high percentage of negative rose bengal test (~BT~ sera which showed a high titre in the serum agglutmat10n (SAT) and complement fixation tests. (CFf). was noted in certain batches of sera during routme testmg for bo~ine brucellosis. As a similar phe~omenon has not previously been recorded, an investigation was undertaken to establish whether in this case a prozone reaction l...

Materials sedimentable at high speed (approximately 27,000 R.P.M.) were found in all normal and neoplastic tissues studied. They are carriers of the Forssman antigen and of the Wassermann hapten. These heavy materials exhibit species, organ, and individual specificity and produce several antibodies which can be demonstrated by absorption tests. Heavy materials from chicken sarcoma and chicken s...

The value of various serological tests in the diagnosis of paracoccidioidomycosis was studied. Quantitative agar-gel immunodiffusion and indirect immunofluorescent tests were performed, and the results were compared with those of complement fixation and qualitative agar-gel procedures. The quantitative immunodiffusion procedure was found to serve as the simplest and safest quantitative test tha...

Competitive and standard enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), rose bengal (RB), complement fixation, and agar gel immunoprecipitation with native hapten (AGID-NH) were compared by using sera from Brucella-free, Brucella melitensis-infected, and B. melitensis Rev1-vaccinated sheep. The most sensitive tests were indirect ELISA and RB, and the most specific tests were AGID-NH and competiti...
