BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS The results of endoscopic treatment with elastic band ligation for esophageal variceal bleeding in patients with Child-Pugh class C cirrhosis remain poor. In comparison with treatment with elastic band ligation, we have found lower rates of rebleeding and mortality with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injections. Thus, the aim of the current study was to describe our unit's 10...
Coronary artery perforation (CAP) is a rare (0.43%) but scary complication of percutaneous coronary intervention with its associated morbidity and even mortality at times. It needs to be treated urgently either by percutaneous means or by open heart surgery, as the situation demands. In this report we are discussing a left anterior descending coronary (LAD) artery perforation sealed successfully...
We report a case of pseudoaneurysm of the anterior ascending branch of the left pulmonary artery, following a left upper lobectomy for pulmonary aspergillosis, for which we have done an endovascular treatment. This is the first case where complete pseudoaneurysm occlusion was accomplished after a transcatheter intra-aneurysmal N-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate (glue) injection.
A 35-year-old man presented with recurrence of upper gastrointestinal bleed after eradication of esophageal varices. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed submucosal lesion in the duodenum and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) demonstrated it to be a duodenal varix. Cyanoacrylate glue was injected into the duodenal varix and successful obliteration of the duodenal varix was demonstrated on a foll...
OBJECTIVE: Optimal endoscopic treatment of gastric varices is still not standardized nowadays. Actively bleeding varices may prohibit a successful endoscopic injection therapy of Histoacryl® (N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate). Since 2006, we have treated gastric varices by standardized endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided Histoacryl injection therapy without severe adverse events. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We...
S36 ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND / VOLUME 6 / SUPPLEMENT 1 / AUGUST 2017 Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided obliteration of the left inferior phrenic artery pseudoaneurysm bleed in a patient with alcoholic chronic pancreatitis Deepak Gunjan, Pramod Garg, Shivanand Gamanagatti All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India Background: Bleeding due to a pseudoaneurysm is a lifethreatening cond...
During bonding of orthodontic brackets to enamel, conventional adhesive systems use three different agents: an enamel conditioner, a primer solution, and an adhesive resin. A unique characteristic of some new bonding systems is that they need neither a priming agent nor a curing light to bond brackets. Such an approach should be more cost-effective for the clinician and indirectly also for the ...
Glue embolisation is a rare happening and many clinicians who evaluate patients for post sclerotherapy problems may be unaware of this complication. We present a case of pulmonary embolism in a patient of cirrhosis liver secondary to gastric variceal sclerotherapy with N-Butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and lipoidol solution. This is also called glue embolism.
2002 because of recurrent pneumonitis associated with bronchiectasis. Common variable immunodeficiency was diag− nosed (the serum gammaglobulin level was 0.09 g/dL [normal range 1.2± 1.5 g/ dL]), and she was treated with immuno− globulins. In 2004, gastroscopy revealed stage 2 esophageal and gastric varices, caused by nodular regenerative hyperpla− sia−related portal hypertension. In 2005 the p...
