In this paper we consider Dirac operators in R, n ≥ 2, with a potential V . Under mild decay and continuity assumptions on V and some spectral assumptions on the operator, we prove a limiting absorption principle for the resolvent, which implies a family of Strichartz estimates for the linear Dirac equation. For large potentials the dynamical estimates are not an immediate corollary of the free...

We consider Morawetz estimates for weighted energy decay of solutions to the wave equation on scattering manifolds (i.e., those with large conic ends). We show that a Morawetz estimate persists for solutions that are localized at low frequencies, independent of the geometry of the compact part of the manifold. We further prove a new type of Morawetz estimate in this context, with both hypothese...

A method in the current literature used to estimate the density of bacteria in a sample solution is the most probable number (MPN) procedure. This paper considers the change in density of bacteria in the sample through time. The MPN with its variance for a fixed time point is just one module of the experiment and is treated as a generalization of the unrestricted maximum likelihood estimates us...

We prove that non-hyperbolic non-renormalizable quadratic polynomials are expansion inducing. For renormalizable polynomials a counterpart of this statement is that in the case of unbounded combinatorics renormalized mappings become almost quadratic. Technically, this follows from the decay of the box geometry. Specific estimates of the rate of this decay are shown which are sharp in a class of...

Determination of sound decay times in coupled spaces often demands considerable effort. Based on Schroeder's backward integration of room impulse responses, it is often difficult to distinguish different portions of multirate sound energy decay functions. A model-based parameter estimation method, using Bayesian probabilistic inference, proves to be a powerful tool for evaluating decay times. A...

We present a detailed study of the central exclusive production of the Standard Model Higgs Boson in the WW decay channel at the LHC. We include estimates of the experimental acceptance, including that of the proposed proton tagging detectors at 220m and 420m around either ATLAS and / or CMS, and the level 1 trigger acceptances. We give first estimates of the photon-photon and glue-glue backgro...

This paper establishes the optimal decay rate for scalar oscillatory integrals in n variables which satisfy a nondegeneracy condition on the third derivatives. The estimates proved are stable under small linear perturbations, as encountered when computing the Fourier transform of surface-carried measures. The main idea of the proof is to construct a nonisotropic family of balls which locally ca...

The top quark is expected to decay as a free particle with definite momentum and polarization. Here we consider the possibilities to obtain information about its polarization through the energy and angular distributions of the b-quarks from the decay of the top-quarks produced in e + e − annihilation. Analytic expressions and numerical estimates for different beam polarizations are derived.
