The combined use of intensity and depth information greatly helps in the estimation of the local 3D movements (range flow) of moving surfaces. We demonstrate how the two can be combined in both a local total least squares algorithm and in an iterative global variational technique. While the first assumes locally constant flow the second method relies on a smoothly varying flow field. The improv...
This paper presents a technique for lossy compression of dense range images. Two separate compression schemes are applied. The first scheme (geometric compression) reduces redundant geometric information by generating an adaptive 3D triangular mesh that approximates the shapes present in the original range image. Geometric compression is used for obtaining an efficient representation of the ran...
–a notion of amenability for topological semigroups is introduced. a topological semigroup s iscalled johnson amenable if for every banach s -bimodule e , every bounded crossed homomorphism froms to e* is principal. in this paper it is shown that a discrete semigroup s is johnson amenable if and only if1(s) is an amenable banach algebra. also, we show that if a topological semigroup s is johns...
We study homomorphisms between randomly directed paths and give estimates on the probability of the existence of such homomorphism. We show that a random path is a core with positive probability. We apply our results in the investigation of homomorphism dualities, the most natural situation when a homomorphism (or Constraint Satisfaction) problem is in coNP.
The ability to quickly acquire dense range data of familiar environments has been met with enthusiastic response in our graphics laboratory. In this paper, we describe our prototype range collection system, based on a scanning laser rangefinder and a high-resolution digital color camera, that allows us to create panoramic color photographs where every pixel has an accurate range value. To accom...
and Applied Analysis 3 f : [0, τ] ×N ×N → N is smooth enough and there are constants a, c ∈ N, with c ̸ = − 1, such that sup (t,z,u)∈q τ f (t, z, u) − az − cu < ∞, (12) where q τ = [0, τ] ×N ×N. (2) The interior controllability of the semilinear Laguerre equation
The scaling of the bond-bond correlation function P1(s) along linear polymer chains is investigated with respect to the curvilinear distance s along the flexible chain and the monomer density rho via Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations. Surprisingly, the correlations in dense three-dimensional solutions are found to decay with a power law P1(s) approximately s(-omega) with omega=3/2 ...
Planar motion models can provide gross motion estimation and good segmentation for image pairs with large inter-frame disparity. However, as the disparity becomes larger, the resulting dense correspondences will become increasingly inaccurate for everything but purely planar objects. Flexible motion models, on the other hand, tend to overfit and thus make partitioning difficult. For this reason...
Modern dense visual SLAM systems produce high-fidelity geometric models, yet the quality of their textures lags behind. In part, the problem pertains to naive handling of colors. The RGB triplets from images are averaged straight into the model, ignoring nonlinearity of the image color space, vignetting effects, and variations of exposure time between different frames. In this paper we propose ...
