In this note, we give four versions of Egoroff’s theorem in non-additive measure theory by using the condition (E) and the pseudo-condition (E) of set function and the duality relations between the conditions. These conditions employed are not only sufficient, but also necessary for the four kinds of Egoroff’s theorem, respectively.
Generalizing the characters of compact simple Lie groups, Ian Macdonald introduced in [M1,M2] and other works remarkable orthogonal symmetric polynomials dependent on the parameters q, t. He came up with three main conjectures formulated for arbitrary root systems. A new approach to the Macdonald theory was suggested in [C1] on the basis of (double) affine Hecke algebras and related difference ...
0. Introduction. In this paper two commutative, semisimple Banach algebras with involution, viz., A(G) and B(G), (called the Fourier algebra of G and the Fourier-Stieltjes algebra of G, respectively) are defined (as in [5]) for an arbitrary locally compact topological group G. [Note. As algebras A(G) and B(G) are subalgebras of the algebra of bounded continuous functions on G.] The main purpose...
In this note we introduce Thorn classes of microbundles. We determine the Thorn class of the Whitney sum as the cup product of Thorn classes and state two applications ; one to Gysin sequences of Whitney sums and one to the Atiyah-Bott-Shapiro duality theorem for Thorn spaces (cf. Atiyah [2]). Thus our main result states tha t for microbundles /xi, JU2 over a compact (topological) manifold X, i...
Yu and Liu’s strong duality theorem under the time-sharing property requires the Slater condition to hold for the considered general nonconvex problem, what is satisfied for the specific application. We further extend the scope of the theorem under Ky Fan convexity which is slightly weaker than Yu&Lui’s time-sharing property.
Using the Fenchel-Young duality and mountain pass geometry we derive a new multiple critical point theorem. In a finite dimensional setting it becomes three critical point theorem while in an infinite dimensional case we obtain the existence of at least two critical points. The applications to anisotropic problems show that one can obtain easily that all critical points are nontrivial.
Last lecture we introduce linear programs (LP) and saw how to model problems with LPs. In this lecture we study duality of LPs. Roughly speaking, the dual of a minimization LP is a maximization LP which its solutions provide lower bounds for the optimum of the original LP. First we show how to construct dual of an LP. Then we talk about relation between the optimum of an LP and its dual. In par...
Let D denote the partially ordered sets of homomorphism classes of finite directed graphs, ordered by the homomorphism relation. Order theoretic properties of this poset have been studied extensively, and have interesting connections to familiar graph properties and parameters. This paper studies the generalized duality pairs in D: it gives a new, short proof for the Foniok Nešetřil Tardif theo...
We illustrate a duality relation between one-loop integrals and single-cut phase-space integrals. The duality relation is realised by a modification of the customary +i0 prescription of the Feynman propagators. The new prescription regularizing the propagators, which we write in a Lorentz covariant form, compensates for the absence of multiple-cut contributions that appear in the Feynman Tree T...
