We propose a tractable framework to examine the system-wide effects of bank capital requirements. In our model, banks can serve a socially beneficial role by financing firms that are credit rationed by public markets, but banks’ access to deposit insurance (or implicit guarantees) creates socially undesirable risk-shifting incentives. Equity ratio requirements reduce banks’ risk-taking incentiv...

The recent calculation of the four-loop β-function in QCD provides further evidence that the Banks-Zaks expansion in 16 1 2 −nf is sufficiently well behaved to be useful even for nf ≈ 2 light flavours. This expansion inherently predicts “freezing” of the QCD couplant at low energies as a perturbative effect. We consider the e+e− and Bjorken-sum-rule cases as examples.

The technological revolution has spread over today's world, and it is clearly seen in banking, especially electronic banking. E-Banking has many dimensions, criteria, and components, and judging its progress based on dimensions leads to difficulty and bias. There is also a lack of comprehensive information references in the literature. Therefore, introducing a combinational index to accurately ...

E-banking has a lot of benefits that add value to customer’s satisfaction in term of better service quality, and at the same time enable banks to gain a competitive advantage over other competitors. However, more attention towards e-banking security is required and needed against fraudulent behavior because the lack of control over security makes e-banking still un-trusted for many till today. ...

I address the question of optimal capital ratio in banking, particularly the fact that banks’ riskweighted capital are substantially larger than the stipulated reserve requirements by Bank of International Settlements. My contribution is to show that when the underlying values of borrowers are correlated, banks should hold positive risk-weighted capital, regardless of the regulation. I use a de...

While bank lending may fall in response to shocks to their liquidity, to what extent are such shocks transmitted to borrowing …rms? Tracing such transmission mechanisms has proven di¢ cult in the past due to a lack of micro data linking banks to borrowing …rms and identi…cation concerns. This paper uses di¤erential liquidity shocks arising from unanticipated nuclear tests in Pakistan in 1998, a...

This paper is based on the hypothesis that digital business can only be conducted once the necessary institutional framework has been put in place. Trust – the cornerstone of all business activity – is an indispensable prerequisite to such a framework. This trust is created on the one hand by technology and, on the other hand, by institutions such as banks. And trust is one area in which the ba...

Over the past thirty years, the activities of the Federal Reserve System have undergone major change. Public interest and confidence in monetary policy have grown immensely. Low inflation has emerged, if not as the primary objective of monetary policy, at least as a more central focus than it was thirty years ago. The Federal Reserve System has also undergone changes. Reserve Banks now charge f...
