Fluorescence blinking in nanocrystal quantum dots is known to exhibit power-law dynamics, and several different mechanisms have been proposed to explain this behavior. We have extended the measurement of quantum-dot blinking by characterizing fluctuations in the fluorescence of single dots over time scales from microseconds to seconds. The power spectral density of these fluctuations indicates ...
The early stage of molecular excitonics and its quantum-kinetic dynamics in the multiband, bitubular cyanine dye aggregate C(8)O(3) at room temperature are revealed by employing two-dimensional (2D) coherent electronic spectroscopy in the visible spectral region. The sub-20 fs measurements provide a direct look into the details of elementary electronic couplings by spreading spectroscopic trans...
In this chapter the physical aspects of the global optimization of the geometry of atomic clusters are elucidated. In particular, I examine the structural principles that determine the nature of the lowest-energy structure, the physical reasons why some clusters are especially difficult to optimize and how the basin-hopping transformation of the potential energy surface enables these difficult ...
We investigate the locality or nonlocality of the energy transfer and the spectral interactions involved in the cascade for decaying magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows in the presence of a uniform magnetic field B at various intensities. The results are based on a detailed analysis of three-dimensional numerical flows at moderate Reynolds numbers. The energy transfer functions, as well as the glob...
The motion of quark is studied in a confining bag having central color field. The Dirac equation is solved for a quark in such bag and its energy spectrum is found. It is pointed out the possibility to identify the external color field with the background field of gluon condensation. This makes the received energy spectrum of quark useful for comparison with the energy spectrum of hadrons.
We revisit the Boltzmann equation governing spectrum of energetic particles originating from decay massive progenitors during process thermalization. assume that these decays occur when background temperature $T$ is much less than mass $M$ progenitor. pay special attention to IR cutoff provided by thermal bath, and include suppression resulting interference multiple scattering reactions (LPM ef...
