Nanoparticle dopants that are invisible to conduction electrons and have sharp dips in their electron scattering rate versus electron energy close to the Fermi level. Replacement of such dopants with traditional impurities results in simultaneous enhancement of the Seebeck coefficient and the electron mobility and therefore a large enhancement in the thermoelectric power factor can be achieved.

Propagators of the diagonal and the off-diagonal gluons are studied numerically in the Maximal Abelian gauge of SU(2) lattice gauge theory. We have found a strong enhancement of the diagonal gluons in the infrared region. The enhancement factor is about 50 at our smallest momentum 325 MeV. We have also applied various fits to the propagator formfactors.

Fluorescence-intensity enhancement of dye molecules was investigated using silicon submicron particles as a function of the particle size. Silicon particles with a size of 500 nm gave an enhancement factor up to 180. Measurement of scattering spectra revealed that the localized electric field at the particle enhances the fluorescence intensity.

In this communication, we develop a simple pathway to prepare SERS-active substrates with Au nanoparticles (NPs) by an electrochemical strategy of deposition-dissolution cycles (DDCs). The prepared SERS-active substrates demonstrate large Raman scattering enhancement for Rhodamine 6G (R6G) with a detection limit of 2 × 10(-12) M and an enhancement factor of 5.8 × 10(7).
