Ni (hydr)oxide is a promising and inexpensive material for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts known to dramatically increase the activity when used with Fe. Herein, we basified Ni(II) solution coated layered Ni(OH)2 on coins prepare template high stability activity. To evaluate catalytic during high-current-density operation, analyzed electrochemical physicochemical properties before aft...

In this study, different cathode materials were evaluated for electrochemical degradation of aqueous phase trichloroethylene (TCE). A cathode followed by an anode electrode sequence was used to support reduction of TCE at the cathode via hydrodechlorination (HDC). The performance of iron (Fe), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), aluminum (Al) and carbon (C) foam cathodes was evaluated. We tested commerci...

The response mechanism of the iron(III) chalcogenide glass membrane ion-selective electrode (ISE) in saline media has been studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). EIS equivalent circuits and XPS surface compositions for the FeIII ISE are consistent with the presence of two surface films probably comprising a outer surface layer (OSL...

in this study, removal of methylene blue by electro-coagulation method using aluminum and iron electrodes was investigated. the influence of the operating parameters such as contact time, current density, anode type, inter-electrodes distance, initial and final ph and energy consumption rate was determined. dye removal was increased with increases in solution ph, current density and contact tim...

Gold (Au) electrodes coated with layer-by-layer (LbL) thin films composed of chitosan (CHI) were prepared to evaluate the redox properties of hexaammine ruthenium ions, Ru(NH₃)₆3+, and ferricyanide ions, Fe(CN)₆3- LbL films were prepared on an Au electrode by electrostatic LbL deposition using polycationic CHI and poly(vinyl sulfate) (PVS) or poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) as anionic component. Redox...

A simple and sensitive electrochemical biosensor was used to detect tyrosine oxidation induced by hydroxyl radicals generated by Fenton reaction (Fe(2+)/H(2)O(2)). Poly(glu, tyr) (4:1) peptides were immobilized on indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode surface via layer-by-layer assembly technique, and Os(bpy)(3)(2+)-mediated tyrosine oxidation current was employed as the signal reporter of the biose...

At deep-sea vent systems, hydrothermal emissions rich in reductive chemicals replace solar energy as fuels to support microbial carbon assimilation. Until recently, all the microbial components at vent systems have been assumed to be fostered by the primary production of chemolithoautotrophs; however, both the laboratory and on-site studies demonstrated electrical current generation at vent sys...

We evaluated the inducibility of nitrate-dependent Fe(II)-EDTA oxidation (NDFO) in non-growth, chloramphenicol-amended, resting-cell suspensions of Dechloromonas sp. strain UWNR4 and Acidovorax sp. strain 2AN. Cells previously incubated with Fe(II)-EDTA oxidized ca. 6-fold more Fe(II)-EDTA than cells previously incubated with Fe(III)-EDTA. This is the first report of induction of NDFO by Fe(II).
