Semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes could be selectively dispersed with a novel fluorene-peri-xanthenoxanthene conjugated copolymer. The fabricated thin-film field effect transistors show excellent and uniform performances with on/off ratios of >10(7) and mobilities of 4-6.1 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1).

A new and efficient metal-free cascade cyclization of 1,6-enynes with aldehydes is developed for the synthesis of tricyclic fluorene derivatives. The reaction involves a radical process and one C(sp(2))-C(sp(2)) and two C(sp(2))-C(sp(3)) bonds are formed simultaneously in one pot by using PivOH and TBHP.

In the title mol-ecule, C(26)H(18)N(2), the 9H-fluorene unit is almost planar, as the cyclo-penta-diene ring makes dihedral angles of 1.12 (6) and 1.46 (6)° with the fused benzene rings. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings of the diphenyl-methyl-ene residue is 61.78 (6)°.

In the title compound, C(25)H(20)Br(2)N(2) (2+)·2NO(3) (-), the cation lies on a twofold rotation axis which imposes disorder of the dibromo-fluorene unit. In addition, the unique nitrate anion is disordered over two general sites of equal occupancy. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
