A computer model for performance analysis of rotary screw compressors was introduced in a previous paper by the authors(!). In this paper, experimentally obtained flow and heat transfer characteristics are used in the performance simulation. Heat transfer coefficient is determined from experimental relation between the volumetric efficiency and the inlet temperature. Flow coefficients are obtai...

CO2 EOR and Storage in Oil Reservoirs — CO2 injection into tertiary oil reservoirs has been widely accepted as an effective technique for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and has been used by the oil industry for over 40 years. Concerns over greenhouse gas emissions are leading to the investigation and realisation of its potential as a carbon storage method in recent years. With the right reservoir...

This study assessed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) association and aqueous partitioning in lampblack-impacted field soils from five sites in California that formerly housed oil-gas process operations. Lampblack is the solid residue resulting from the decomposition of crude oil at high temperatures in the gas-making operation and is coated or impregnated with oil gasification byproducts, ...

In this study, two halophilic bacterial strains isolated from saline habitats in Argentina grew in the presence of gas oil. They were identified as Halomonas spp. and Nesterenkonia sp. by 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing. Chemotaxis towards gas oil was observed in Halomonas spp. by using swimming assays.

The processes of nucleation, bubble growth and finally the creation of connected gas during the pressure draw-down in an oil reservoir are discussed. From these mechanisms, possible descriptions of foamy oil production appear. One of these mechanisms is the creation of bubbles, small compared to pore sizes, which move with the oil phase and which push the oil out of the reservoir. If this mecha...

This paper describes the ongoing project on autonomous spilled oil and gas tracking buoy system and application to marine disaster prevention system for 5 years since FY2011 (http://www.naoe.eng.osaka-u.ac.jp/~kato/project/). The objectives of this project are as (1)autonomous tracking and monitoring of spilled plumes of oil and gas from subsea production facilities by an underwater buoy robot,...

fractional flow analysis confirms the advantages of surfactant alternative gas injection (sag) in enhanced oil recovery, but an adsorption phenomenon that has been affected by several factors, weakens the effectiveness of sag injection. in this study, the effects of sacrificial agent, gas phase, and surfactant concentration on adsorption density on silica mineral were investigated by static and...

This study further develops a party to party gas price bargaining model (expanded in a research paper by Okugu, 2002) by using proxies of prices of these replacement fuels in OPEC spot oil prices and Henry Hub (HH) spot gas prices. The study finds a significant relationship between the variables. When optimally lagged data are analysed in a vector autoregressive model, a significant longer-term...

Organizations operating in the oil and gas sector face enormous challenges, including the pressing need to find and exploit new energy supplies, greater regulatory pressures, new workflow requirements, and the demands of a a changing professional labor force. At the same time, upstream companies face a serious and growing risk from cyber-attacks, malicious software, and other threats against th...

In this work we investigated the behavior of methane hydrates dispersed in crude oils from different fields at temperatures below 0°C. In case of crude oil emulsion the size of water droplets is in the range of 50÷100μm. The size of hydrate particles formed from droplets is the same. The self-preservation is not expected in this field. However, the self-preservation of hydrates with the size of...
