Four recent papers 1–4 present simple and elegant proofs of fixed point results for pointwise contractions, asymptotic pointwise contractions, and asymptotic nonexpansive mappings. Kirk and Xu 1 study these mappings in the context of weakly compact convex subsets of Banach spaces, respectively, in uniformly convex Banach spaces. Hussain and Khamsi 2 consider these problems in the framework of m...

In this paper, a concept of monotone generalized contraction in partially ordered metric spaces is introduced and some fixed point and common fixed point theorems for the so-called weak contractions are proved. The concept of weak contraction was introduced by Kada, Suzuki and Takahashi [Math. Japonica, 44 (1996), 381-391], in connection to the concept of w-distance on a metric space. The resul...

Then we...

The notion of partial metric space [1], represented by the abbreviation PMS, departs from the usual metric spaces due to removing the assumption of self-distance. In other words, in PMS self-distance needs not to be zero. This interesting distance function is defined by Matthews [1], as a generalization metric to study in computer science, in particular, to get a more efficient programs in comp...

In the year 2014, Almeida et al. introduced a new class of mappings, namely, contractions Geraghty type. Additionally, in 2021, Beg concept generalized F-proximal contraction first kind and second kind, respectively. After developing these concepts, authors mainly studied best proximity points for classes mappings. this short note, we prove that problem existence said proximal is equivalent to ...

Let (X , d) be a complete metric space, m ∈ N \ {0}, and γ ∈ R with 0 ≤ γ < 1. A g-contraction is a mapping T : X −→ X such that for all x, y ∈ X there is an i ∈ [1,m] with d(T ix,T iy) <R γid(x, y). The generalized Banach contractions principle states that each g-contraction has a fixed point. We show that this principle is a consequence of Ramsey’s theorem for pairs over, roughly, RCA0 + Σ2-I...

We establish common fixed point theorems for weakly compatible generalized φcontractions. As applications, various common fixed point and best approximation results for Cq-commuting and compatible maps are derived. Our results unify, extend and complement various known results existing in the literature.
