Marine algae produce a cocktail of halogenated metabolites with potential commercial value. Structures exhibited by these compounds go from acyclic entities with a linear chain to complex polycyclic molecules. Their medical and pharmaceutical application has been investigated for a few decades, however other properties, such as antifouling, are not to be discarded. Many compounds were discovere...

CONTEXT Halogenated inhalational anesthetics are currently the most common drugs used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia. Postoperative hepatic injury has been reported after exposure to these agents. Based on much evidence, mechanism of liver toxicity is more likely to be immunoallergic. The objective of this review study was to assess available studies on hepatotoxicity o...

A series of 6,6-dihalo-2-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane and 7,7-dihalo-2-azabicyclo[4.1.0]heptane compounds were prepared by the reaction of dihalocarbene species with N-Boc-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroles or -1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridines. Monochloro substrates were synthesised as well, using a chlorine-to-lithium exchange reaction. The behaviour of several aldehydes and ketones under reductive amination condi...

Mercurated nucleic acids are converted to the corresponding tritiated, brominated, and iodinated derivatives by treatment with sodium borotritiide, N-bromosuccinimide, and elemental iodine, respectively. All three reactions occur under mild conditions in neutral aqueous solutions. Mercury-halogen conversions are essentially quantitative at both the mono- and polynucleotide levels. Tritiation r...

The electrochemical behavior of 2'-halogeno-N,N-dimethyl-4-aminoazobenzene derivatives was investigated using various polarographic and voltammetric methods. The peak potentials of these derivatives were observed to shift towards negative values along with an increase in the pH. A reduction of the azo linkage took place via two electrons at pH > 4, but four electrons at pH < 4 in aqueous-ethano...

This article reports an efficient CH activation process for regioselective halogenation of 1,4-benzodiazepinones. Direct halogenation with NXS (X = Br, I) affords halogenated benzodiazepinones on the central aromatic ring whereas catalyst (Pd(OAc)2) controlled CH activation furnishes regioselectively ortho halogenated benzodiazepinones on the phenyl side chain.

The regioselective opening of epoxides with organotin oxides 1 and 2, in presence of halogenated alcohols was developed, yielding the halohydrin derivatives. Introduction Epoxides are among the most versatile intermediates in organic chemistry due to the particular polarity and strength of their three member ring. Those characteristics make them in a very suitable substrate to the attack or man...

This paper presents the results of a study random copolyethersulfone sulfides based on 4,4-dichlorodiphenylsulfone, 1,1-dichloro-2,2-di(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethylene, and sodium sulfide. The synthesis with different ratios polyethersulfone polyphenylenesulfone sulfide units was carried out by high-temperature polycondensation reaction nucleophilic substitution in N,N-dimethylacetamide medium using p...

A new processing protocol based on non-halogenated solvent and additive is developed to produce polymer solar cells with power conversion efficiencies better than those processed from commonly used halogenated solvent-additive pair. Morphology studies show that good performance correlates with a finely distributed nanomorphology with a well-defined polymer fibril network structure, which leads ...
