We study the problem of heat conduction in general relativity by using Carter's variational formulation. write creation rates entropy and particle as combinations vorticities temperature chemical potential. pay attention to fact that there are two additional degrees freedom choosing relativistic analog Cattaneo equation for parts binormal caloric number flows. Including contributions from parts...

Fractal geometry (fractional Brownian motion—FBM) is introduced to characterize the pore distribution of porous material. Based on this fractal characterization, a mathematical model of heat conduction is presented to study heat conduction behaviors in porous material with a focus on effective thermal conductivity. The role of pore structure on temperature distribution and heat flux is examined...

Background: This study aimed at understanding thermal effects on nerve conduction and developing new methods to produce a reversible thermal block of axonal conduction in mammalian myelinated nerves. Methods: In 13 cats, conduction block of pudendal nerves by cooling (5–30 °C) or heating (42–54 °C) a small segment of the nerve was monitored by the urethral striated muscle contractions and incre...

we develop and apply the product integration method to a large class of linear weakly singular volterra systems. we show that under certain sufficient conditions this method converges. numerical implementation of the method is illustrated by a benchmark problem originated from heat conduction.

We have experimentally investigated the heat transfer mechanisms at a 90610 nm diameter point contact between a sample and a probe tip of a scanning thermal microscope (SThM). For large heated regions on the sample, air conduction is the dominant tipsample heat transfer mechanism. For micro/nano devices with a submicron localized heated region, the air conduction contribution decreases, whereas...

The thermal performance of a heat exchanger is important for the potential application in an integrated solar cell/module and thermoelectric generator (TEG) system. Usually, the thermal performance of a heat exchanger for TEGs is analysed by using 1D heat conduction theory which ignores the detailed phenomena associated with thermo-hydraulics. In this paper, thermal and momentum transports in t...

Irreversibility (that is, the “one-sidedness” of time) of a physical process can be characterized by using Lyapunov functions in the modern theory of stability. In this theoretical framework, entropy and its production rate have been generally regarded as Lyapunov functions in order to measure the irreversibility of various physical processes. In fact, the Lyapunov function is not always unique...
