Duplication of gall bladder is a rare congenital anomaly of the hepatobiliary system. It is a very important entity in clinical practice as preoperative diagnosis plays a significant role in the management and to avoid unnecessary bile duct injury during surgery. We report a case of duplicated gall bladder presenting as acute cholecystitis.
Gadobenate dimeglumine-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging simultaneously provides both morphological and functional information by the acquisition of dynamic and hepatobiliary-phase imaging. Focal lesions with no functioning hepatocytes, where hepatobiliary metabolism is blocked or inhibited, are generally unable to uptake and excrete gadobenate dimeglumine into the bile. Such lesions are...
background: vertebrobasilar arterial territory nourishes one-quarter of human brain. it constitutes some vital and strategic parts of the central nervous system. methods: a number of keywords (vertebral, basilar, artery, and territory) were searched in medline (ovid and pubmed) as well as google, proquest, scopus, cochrane library, and science direct online databases. only articles containing a...
Human isonucleotidases were separated by electrophoresis on a cellulose acetate membrane. Three 5'-nucleotidase forms, NTP1, NTP2, and NTP3, were resolved with this method and quantified by densitometry. The procedure was not only simple and rapid but also sufficiently precise (between-run CV < 20%) and sensitive (detected nucleotidase fractions of > 0.5 U/L). The effects of various treatments ...
The isoenzymes of alkaline phosphatase (AP) in the serum of 30 normal subjects and 90 patients with common hepatobiliary disorders are distinguished using electrophoresis on cellulose acetate. Physicochemical profiles of these mixtures of serum isoenzymes are presented using thermostability and organspecific inhibitors (urea, L-phenylalanine, and L-homoarginine). The findings are reviewed and t...
Disorders of the hepatobiliary system are relatively common extraintestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). These disorders are sometimes due to a shared pathogenesis with IBD as seen in primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and small-duct primary sclerosing cholangitis (small-duct PSC). There are also hepatobiliary manifestations such as cholelithiasis and portal vein thromb...
BACKGROUND A long-term follow up case of hepatobiliary cystadenoma originating from simple hepatic cyst is rare. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of progressive morphologic changes from simple hepatic cyst to hepatobiliary cystadenoma by 11 - year follow up imaging. A 25-year-old man visited our hospital in 1993 for a simple hepatic cyst. The cyst was located in the left lobe of the liver, ...
Background The incidence of hepatobiliary cancer is steadily increasing. The age standardized incidence rate of liver cancers has increased by 224% for males and 227% for females over the last few decades with similar trends in the incidence of bile duct and gall bladder cancers. It is unclear if this rise is related to increasing trends in in obesity, metabolic syndrome and lifestyle changes. ...
