The prediction accuracies of partially-averaged Navier-Stokes model and improved shear stress transport k-ω turbulence model for simulating the unsteady cavitating flow around the hydrofoil were discussed in this paper. Numerical results show that the two turbulence models can effectively reproduce the cavitation evolution process. The numerical prediction for the cycle time of cavitation incep...

An investigation has been made into the application of the theory of thin sections to the design of hydrofoils having high cavitation speeds. Consideration is given to both symmetrical sections, which themselves are suitable for struts, and camber-lines, which, when used with the symmetrical sections, lead to cambered sections which are suitable for lifting surfaces. In all the aim has been to ...

Hydropower, a clean and renewable energy resource, has been developed worldwide for the economic development and improvement of people's living standards. It has also been used to improve the stability of the smart power grid. Depending on the water head of hydropower plants, various types of hydraulic turbines such as Francis, Kaplan and Pelton have been designed to maximize efficiency. Franci...

An analysis of dynamic markings in 24 paired preludes in major and minor keys shows that the minor mode is associated with a generally lower dynamic level than the major mode. The results are consistent with observations in speech prosody, where sad or depressed speakers show reduced acoustic energy compared with normal or happy speakers. Stall usually occurs in the hump area of head curve, which will block channel and aggravate pump vibration. For centrifugal pumps with guide vanes have a clocking effect, stall characteristic at different positions should be focused. In this paper, flow field under conditions is numerically simulated, rotor–stator interaction effects are studied. The double-hump found curve by using SAS (Scale ...

This paper describes the design of a power supply and actuation system appropriate for position or force controlled human-scale robots. The proposed approach utilizes a liquid monopropellant to generate hot gas, which is utilized to power a pneumatic-type actuation system. A prototype of the actuation system is described, and closed-loop tracking data are shown, which demonstrate good motion co...

The present paper focuses on the numerical investigation of flow around fully submerged 2D and 3D hydrofoils operating close to a free surface. Iterative boundary element method is implemented predict field. This study aims investigate aspect ratio effect surface interactions hydrodynamic performance under by using potential theory. Three different submergence depths ratios are studied in wide ...

Abstract The transient cavitating flow in the wake of a hydrofoil at zero incidence angle has been simulated using homogeneous mixture cavitation mass transfer model combined with both Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Scale Resolving Simulation (SRS) turbulence models. geometry corresponds to 2D NACA 0009 truncated trailing edge which already extensively investigated High-Speed Cavitat...
