Organic mixed valence compounds consisting of bisdiarylamino charge-bearing units with an oligothiophene bridge and oligothiophene radical cations have been compared using molecular modeling. The study has been performed with oligomers of 1 to 22 thiophene units. These two series of molecules have several properties in common, and intramolecular Single Electron Transfer (SET) in both series can...

Numerous inorganic and organic micropollutants can undergo reactions with chlorine. However, for certain compounds, the expected chlorine reactivity is low and only small modifications in the parent compound's structure are expected under typical water treatment conditions. To better understand/predict chlorine reactions with micropollutants, the kinetic and mechanistic information on chlorine ...

This book is used by its author, a lecturer in chemistry at the university of Nottingham, England, in a beginning chemistry course. We highly recommend it to all earth scientists. rt deals, in simple and concise language, with the relations of atomic, molecular and crystal structures to physical and chemical properties. This subject is, even nowadays, badly neglected in chemistry teaching in th...

OBJECTIVES To assess occupational exposure to inorganic germanium (Ge) in workers from a producing plant, and to assess the health of these workers, with a special focus on respiratory, kidney, and liver functions. METHODS Cross sectional study of 75 workers exposed to Ge and 79 matched referents. Exposure was characterised by measuring air and urine concentrations of the element during a typ...

The standard enthalpy of formation of a compound is the energy associated with the reaction to form the compound from its component elements. The standard enthalpy of formation is a fundamental thermodynamic property that determines its phase stability, which can be coupled with other thermodynamic data to calculate phase diagrams. Calorimetry provides the only direct method by which the standa...

During recent years, the silicon organic-inorganic compounds play the key role in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical industry. This is because of their similar chemical properties with carbon compounds. The second reason is related to their easy transfer from the cell membranes. So, molecular simulation and study the properties of novel organosilicon compounds can be more important. From th...

The toxic effects of arsenicals are significantly modified by numerous biological and abiotic factors. The toxicity of arsenic in the environment is affected by temperature, pH, Eh, organic content, phosphate concentration, adsorption to solid matrices, the presence of other substances and toxicants, duration of exposure and the arsenic species present. In general, inorganic arsenicals are more...

The synthesis of sterically hindered anilines has been a significant challenge in organic chemistry. Here we report a Cu-catalyzed radical addition with in situ-generated nitroso compounds to prepare sterically hindered amines directly from readily available materials. The transformation is conducted at room temperature, uses abundant copper salts, and is tolerant of a range of functional groups.

This review summarizes industrial applications of inorganic and organic polyvalent (hypervalent) iodine compounds. Inorganic iodate salts have found some application as a dietary supplements food additives. Iodine pentafluoride is used fluorinating reagent, pentoxide powerful selective oxidant that particularly useful in analytical chemistry. Common hypervalent reagents such (dichloroiodo)benze...
