The concept of coded mask imaging in theory and in practice is reviewed, with particular emphasis on image reconstruction techniques. The techniques are simple in principle but become more complicated when one takes into account real, 'as-built', instruments, as opposed to ide-alised imaginary ones. Procedures are discussed with particular reference to the instruments of Integral.

Abstract This is a digest of the work and research completed thus far in developing a progressive image transmission scheme. Efficient and quick communication of perceptually important image information is desired resulting in this research with wavelet and fractal techniques for the identification and extraction of perceptually important features. This is done with the final goal of interactiv...

Post-disaster reconstruction projects offer opportunities to facilitate physical, social and economic development and to reduce future hazard vulnerability long after the disasters. Sustainability of post-disaster reconstruction project conducted in the villages of Dinar following the 1995 earthquake was investigated in this paper. Officials of the Government who were involved in the project we...

In this paper we consider the problem of reconstructing a highresolution image from an incomplete set of undersampled. shifted, degraded frames with subpixel displacement errors. We derive mathematical expressions for the calculation of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimate of the high resolution image given the low resolution observed images. We also examine the role played by the prior mode...

New algorithms for reconstructing wavefront from slopes data are developed, which exhibit high accuracy over broad spatial-frequency bandwidth. Analyzing wavefront reconstructors in the frequency domain lends new insight into ways to improve frequency response and to understand noise propagation. The mathematical tools required to analyze the frequency domain are first developed for discrete ba...

A 3D sequence for dynamic susceptibility imaging is proposed which combines echo-shifting principles (such as PRESTO), sensitivity encoding (SENSE), and partial-Fourier acquisition. The method uses a moderate SENSE factor of 2 and takes advantage of an alternating partial k-space acquisition in the "slow" phase encode direction allowing an iterative reconstruction using high-resolution phase es...

Point spread function (PSF) plays an essential role in image reconstruction. In the context of confocal microscopy, optical performance degrades towards the edge of the field of view as astigmatism, coma and vignetting. Thus, one should expect the related artifacts to be even stronger in macroscopy, where the field of view is much larger. The field aberrations in macroscopy fluorescence imaging...

New, efficient reconstruction procedures are proposed for sensitivity encoding (SENSE) with arbitrary k-space trajectories. The presented methods combine gridding principles with so-called conjugate-gradient iteration. In this fashion, the bulk of the work of reconstruction can be performed by fast Fourier transform (FFT), reducing the complexity of data processing to the same order of magnitud...
