Magnetic levitation (MagLev) enables rapid and non-destructive quality control of plastic parts. The feasibility of MagLev as a method to: i) rapidly assess injection-molded plastic parts for defects during process optimization, ii) monitor the degradation of plastics after exposure to harsh environmental conditions, and iii) detect counterfeit polymers by density is demonstrated.

Functional living materials with microscale compositional topographies are prevalent in nature. However, the creation of biomaterials composed of living micro building blocks, each programmed by composition, functionality, and shape, is still a challenge. A powerful yet simple approach to create living materials using a levitation-based magnetic method is presented.

The paper deals with design of PID controller for unstable SISO systems in the frequency domain. The method is accomplished with performance specification in terms of phase margin and the modification of Neimark D-partition method which ensures desired phase margin. The practical application is illustrated by the PID controller design for the Magnetic Levitation Model.

|This paper presents a new TEAM workshop problem taking into account moving bodies. An electrodynamic levitation device which consists of a conducting plate over two exciting coils shall be examined. The aim is to determine the dynamic characteristics of the levitating plate. A coupled solution of the electromagnetic and the mechanical problem is necessary for that.

The Casimir-Lifshitz force originates from the quantum vacuum fluctuations of electromagnetic field. This is especially intense between interacting objects at nanoscale distances, and it can be attractive or repulsive depending on optical properties materials (amongst other parameters). fundamental phenomenon heart malfunctioning nano- micro-electromechanical devices (NEMS MEMS) that integrate ...

This paper describes a method based on magnetic levitation (MagLev) that is capable of indirectly measuring the binding of unlabeled ligands to unlabeled protein. We demonstrate this method by measuring the affinity of unlabeled bovine carbonic anhydrase (BCA) for a variety of ligands (most of which are benzene sulfonamide derivatives). This method utilizes porous gel beads that are functionali...

Accurate large-displacement magnetic levitation actuation and its stability remain difficult in non-liquid environments. A motion control system with active mode is proposed this paper. The actuating force of the generated by external field. neural network proportion-integration-differentiation (PID) controller designed for actuation, a imbalance principle built step mode. Dual electromagnetic ...
