Mobile IP is the proposed standard of IP based protocol for mobile internetworking. Mobile nodes register with their home agents for location updates as they roam across IP subnets. IP datagrams for mobile nodes are routed rst to their home agents before being tunneled to mobile nodes through their current foreign agents. This paper investigates dynamic location control for mobile nodes and int...

Strong mobility, which allows an external thread to transparently migrate an agent at any time, is difficult to implement in Java since the Java Virtual Machine does not allow serializing the runtime stack. We give an overview of our implementation strategy for strong mobility in which each agent thread maintains its own serializable execution state at all times. We explain how to solve the syn...

The chapter reports on work and key results of the ACTS Project MONTAGE that aims to exploit agent technology in support of personal mobility. In particular, agents are implemented to enable selection on behalf of users of the most beneficial service offer among those by multiple retailers, on the basis of user preferences, encoded in the user profile, and market offerings made by retailers. A ...

This paper describes a Mobile-distributed System Architecture for supporting wireless data accessing. The concept of a Mobile-Floating Agent (or Mobility Agent) with it's notions of service/resource mobility and service pre-assignment is proposed. This Agent utilizes a mobility prediction algorithm to enable a mobile computer to be aware of its current location and potential locations (availabl...

In this research note, we introduce a graded BDI agent development framework, g-BDI for short, that allows to build agents as multi-context systems that reason about three fundamental and graded mental attitudes (i.e. beliefs, desires and intentions). We propose a sound and complete logical framework for them and some logical extensions to accommodate slightly different views on desires.

This paper proposes an approach for the modeling and analysis of autonomous agent mobility patterns which is based on discrete-time Markov chains graphicallyenhanced to improve modularity. Mobility patterns are associated to autonomous agents when they have to fulfil a distributed task involving migration to remote agent servers where agent computation and/or interaction can likely take place. ...

User mobility together with an easy access to distributed resources is one of the greatest challenge to be faced in the future years. At the same time, agent technology is seen as a very promising approach to deal with distributed computing and user mobility. In this paper an agent-based strategy for support of mobile users is presented. It is based on a mobile agent platform developed at the U...

Despite the wide availability of Java-based mobile agent platforms, mobile agent development is still recognized for being challenging and difficult. This is mainly caused by agents’ location awareness, which implies that developers have to provide code for taking decisions about mobility, in addition to code implementing traditional stationary behavior. In this article we describe MoviLog, a m...

To design a dialogue well and easily implement it into an agent system, we constructed verified typical patterns as “ Dialogue Design Patterns ”. analyze the dialogues, defined Standard Structure ”that represents simple components of dialogues. This is using the“ Turn one turn-taking between participants, Topic series Turns in which single question resolved, the“Topic-shift”that short interacti...

This paper analyses an experiment which studies the acquisition of the linguistic competence required to communicate logical combinations of categories from the wisdom of the crowds perspective. The acquisition of such competence encompasses both the construction of a set of logical categories by each individual agent and of a shared language by the population. The processes of conceptualisatio...
