Single crystal specimens of Fe-17 at. % Ga were tested in tension at room temperature. Specimens with a tensile axis orientation of [110] displayed slip lines on the specimen faces corresponding to slip on the {110}with a critical resolved shear stress of 220 MPa. Yielding began at 0.3% elongation and 450 MPa. An ultimate tensile strength of 580 MPa was observed with no fracture occurring throu...
A magneto-mechano-electric generator based on a magnetostrictive metallic substrate and piezoelectric polymer is reported by Kyung Tae Kim, Kwi-Il Park, co-workers in article number 2000969. This harvests electric output signals under applied alternating-current magnetic fields, which are abundant daily life.
Submitted for the MAR13 Meeting of The American Physical Society Experimental realization of straintronic nanomagnetic logic using strain-induced magnetization switching in magnetostrictive nanomagnets elastically coupled to PMN-PT1 NOEL D’SOUZA, MOHAMMAD SALEHIFASHAMI, SUPRIYO BANDYOPADHYAY, JAYASIMHA ATULASIMHA, Virginia Commonwealth University — Single-domain magnetostrictive Ni nanomagnets ...
Abstract. The aim of this work is to study the fundamental compressional (L(0,1)) Pochhammer-Chree mode interaction with nonaxisymmetric damages in cylinders. To this end, experimental and numerical investigations of non-axisymmetric vertical cracks are considered. A non-contact magnetostrictive device is used for experimental investigations. Magnetostrictive transducers are used to generate an...
In recent years, a low-dimensional model for thin magnetostrictive actuators that incorporated magneto-elastic coupling, inertial and damping effects, ferromagnetic hysteresis and classical eddy current losses was developed using energy–balance principles by Venkataraman and Krishnaprasad. This model, with the classical Preisach operator representing the hysteretic constitutive relation between...
Herein, the development and calibration of a macroscopic model for magneto-active elastomers based on data generated from computational homogenizations is presented. The advantage this strategy possibility to adjust independent any sample geometry. Using calibrated model, magnetostrictive magnetorheological effect samples are simulated within wide range magnetic fields.
