The electrochemical exfoliation of graphite via intercalation is one of the attractive methods to obtain graphene. However, presence of course graphite particles in product is the drawback of this method. In this research, the effect of adding cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC), on the amount of exfoliated graphene and functional groups was studied. Transmission electron microscopy, weigh...

A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extracturanium from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexationreaction of uranium with Arsenazo III and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. Theoptimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., pH, reagent concentration, effect of time) werestudied, and the analytical character...

Au-nanoclusters between 2 and 8 nm in diameter were deposited onto solid substrates in different pattern geometries. The basis of this approach is the self-assembly of polystyrene-b-poly[2-vinylpyridine (HAuCl4)] diblock copolymer micelles into uniform monomicellar films on solid supports such as Si-wafers or glass cover slips. HAuCl4 as metallic precursor or a single solid Au-nanoparticle caus...

Hybrid polyion complex (HPIC) micelles are nanoaggregates obtained by complexation of multivalent metal ions by double hydrophilic block copolymers (DHBC). Solutions of DHBC such as the poly(acrylic acid)-block-poly(acrylamide) (PAA-b-PAM) or poly(acrylic acid)-block-poly(2-hydroxyethylacrylate) (PAA-b-PHEA), constituted of an ionizable complexing block and a neutral stabilizing block, were mix...

Our atomistic molecular dynamics simulations reveal the existence of bound and free water molecules in the hydration layer of an aqueous micelle. The bound water molecules can be either singly or doubly hydrogen bonded to the polar head group on the surface of the micelle. The ratio of bound to free water is found to be approximately equal to 9:1 at 300 K. email:[email protected] email:bbagchi@...

The rate of release of iron to 1,10-phenanthroline from ferritin fractions of different iron contents has been studied. The experimental results could be interpreted by a simple hypothetical model of the shape of the hydrous ferric oxide micelle at different iron contents, and reasonable correlation obtained between the rate of release and the calculated micelle surface areas. Initial rates of ...

Two-dimensional Nuclear Overhauser Enhancement SpectroscopY NMR has been applied to study sodiumdodecylsulfate (SDS)/polyethyleneoxide (PEO)/D2O at 10, 20, 25, and 40 ◦C. The results indicate that PEO interacts preferentially with the surface of the micelle aggregates at 20 and 25 ◦C, displacing some water molecules from the hydration sphere. At 40 ◦C the polymer tends to penetrate the interior...

The kinetics of alpha-chymotrypsin (alpha-CT) catalyzed hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenyl acetate has been studied in aqueous solution of alkyldimethylethanolammonium bromide (cetyl, dodecyl, decyl) surfactants at concentrations below and above their critical micelle concentration. From Michaelis-Mcnten kinetics, the catalytic rate constant kcat and the Michaelis constant KM have been determined. The...

Graphene and chemically modified graphenes were resolved by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) using sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) as a micelle matrix. Graphene was successfully dispersed in a micellar solution, and a consecutive and broad signal was obtained by the MEKC with a 20 mmol dm⁻³ aqueous SDBS solution for Graphene Nanoplatelets. Chemically oxidized graphene was les...
