This research proposes an automatic dental radiograph image recognition using fuzzy approach for disaster victim identification. Moreover, a new method using fuzzy inference system to determine an optimal degree of Zernike moment in the system is also proposed. Correlation coefficient and Euclidean distance are used as input variables for fuzzy set. The difference between the correlation coeffi...
We investigate the properties of a closed-form analytic solution recently found by Manko et al. (2000b) for the exterior spacetime of rapidly rotating neutron stars. For selected equations of state we numerically solve the full Einstein equations to determine the neutron star spacetime along constant rest mass sequences. The analytic solution is then matched to the numerical solutions by imposi...
The conventional power method transformation is a moment-matching technique that simulates non-normal distributions with controlled measures of skew and kurtosis. The percentile-based power method is an alternative that uses the percentiles of a distribution in lieu of moments. This article presents a SAS/IML macro that implements the percentile-based power method.
A robust algorithm for computing reduced-order models of parametric systems is proposed. Theoretical considerations suggest that our algorithm is more robust than previous algorithms based on explicit multi-moment matching. Moreover, numerical simulation results show that the proposed algorithm yields more accurate approximations than traditional non-parametric model reduction methods and param...
Let A be a matrix whose entries are real i.i.d. centered random variables with unit variance and suitable moment assumptions. Then the smallest singular value sn(A) is of order n −1/2 with high probability. The lower estimate of this type was proved recently by the authors; in this note we establish the matching upper estimate.
An overview of model reduction methods and a comparison of the resulting algorithms is presented. These approaches are divided into two broad categories, namely SVD based and moment matching based methods. It turns out that the approximation error in the former case behaves better globally in frequency while in the latter case the local behavior is better.
The utility of Lanczos methods for the approximation of large-scale dynamical systems is considered. In particular , it is shown that the Lanczos method is a technique for yielding Pad e approximants which has several advantages over more traditional explicit moment matching approaches. An extension of the Lanczos algorithm is developed for computing multi-point Pad e approximations of descript...
After a short status report on chiral perturbation theory, I review recent progress in determining some of the low-energy couplings by matching the effective theory to QCD. Consequences for Kl3 decays and for the extraction of the CKM matrix element Vus are reported. Hadronic vacuum polarization at low energies and its impact on the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon are discussed.

In this paper we give an overview of model order reduction techniques for coupled systems. We consider linear time-invariant control systems that are coupled through input-output relations and discuss model reduction of such systems using moment matching and balanced truncation. Structure-preserving approaches to model order reduction of coupled systems are also presented. Numerical examples ar...
