A group homomorphism η : A → H is called a localization of A if every homomorphism φ : A → H can be ‘extended uniquely’ to a homomorphism Φ : H → H in the sense that Φη = φ. This categorical concepts, obviously not depending on the notion of groups, extends classical localizations as known for rings and modules. Moreover this setting has interesting applications in homotopy theory, see the intr...

A partial difference set having parameters (n2, r(n − 1), n + r2 − 3r, r2 − r) is called a Latin square type partial difference set, while a partial difference set having parameters (n2, r(n + 1),−n + r2 + 3r, r2 + r) is called a negative Latin square type partial difference set. In this paper, we generalize well-known negative Latin square type partial difference sets derived from the theory o...

An important subcase of the hidden subgroup problem is equivalent to the shift problem over abelian groups. An efficient solution to the latter problem would serve as a building block of quantum hidden subgroup algorithms over solvable groups. The main idea of a promising approach to the shift problem is reduction to solving systems of certain random disequations in finite abelian groups. The r...

We study finitely generated groups whose word problems are accepted by counter automata. We show that a group has word problem accepted by a blind n-counter automaton in the sense of Greibach if and only if it is virtually free abelian of rank n; this result, which answers a question of Gilman, is in a very precise sense an abelian analogue of the Muller-Schupp theorem. More generally, if G is ...

We show that the cop number of directed and undirected Cayley graphs on abelian groups has an upper bound form $O(\sqrt{n})$, where $n$ is vertices, by introducing a refined inductive method. With our method, we improve previous for groups, establish groups. also use to construct new \emph{Meyniel extremal families}, which contain every order with $\Theta(\sqrt{n})$.

We give new examples of FA presentable torsion-free abelian groups. Namely, for every n > 2, we construct a rank n indecomposable torsion-free abelian group which has an FA presentation. We also construct an FA presentation of the group (Z,+) in which every nontrivial cyclic subgroup is not FA recognizable.

‎three infinite families of finite abelian groups will be‎ ‎described such that each member of these families has‎ ‎the r'edei $k$-property for many non-trivial values of $k$‎.

Given a group G acting on a set S, Mobius inversion over the lattice of subgroups can be used to obtain congruences relating the number of elements of S stabilized by each subgroup. By taking S to be a set of subsets, partitions, or permutations congruences for binomial and multinomial coefficients. Stirling numbers of both kinds, and various other combinatorial sequences are derived. Congruenc...

The Higgs branch of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories with non-Abelian gauge groups are described by hyper-Kähler (HK) nonlinear sigma models with potential terms. Using the non-Abelian HK quotient with respect to U(M) and SU(M) gauge groups, we derive the massive HK sigma models that are not toric in the N = 1 superfield formalism and the harmonic superspace formalism. The U(M) quotient give...
