Boron doping into carbon nanotubes improves the CO tolerance and increases the utilization efficiency of the supported Pt nanoparticles. Boron doping leads to a uniform deposition of Pt nanoparticles and also facilitates the removal of CO from the Pt surface, resulting in an increase in the electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation.

The carbon based coils with the nanometer scale have the 3 dimension helix geometry. We synthesized the carbon nano-coils by the use of chemical vapor deposition technique with iron and tin as the catalysts. The fabricated coils have the external diameter of ranging few hundred nm to few thousand nm. The Scanning Electro-Microscope (SEM) and Tunneling Electro-Microscope has shown detail images ...

Through appropriate doping, the properties of BaTiO3-based ferroelectrics can be significantly enhanced. To determine the physical process induced by the doping of Sn atoms in Ba(Ti0.8Sn0.2)O3, we performed high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy experiments and observed that the regions with low Sn content formed polar nano regions (PNRs) embedded in the matrix in Ba(Ti0.8Sn0...

The doping reaction of truncated boron nitride and carbon nanotubes with aluminium atom wastheoretically investigated. The AM1, PM3, and PM6 semiempirical methods have been used toevaluate the thermochemistry of doping reactions of single walled boron nitride nanotubes andcarbon nanotubes. The enthalpy changes, Gibbs free energy changes, and entropy changes of studieddoping reactions were evalu...

There has been great interest in the use of carbon nano-materials (CNMs) in agriculture. However, the existing literature reveals mixed effects from CNM exposure on plants, ranging from enhanced crop yield to acute cytotoxicity and genetic alteration. These seemingly inconsistent research-outcomes, taken with the current technological limitations for in situ CNM detection, present significant h...

Substitutional heteroatom doping is a promising route to modulate the outstanding material properties of carbon nanotubes and graphene for customized applications. Recently, (nitrogen-) N-doping has been introduced to ensure tunable work-function, enhanced n-type carrier concentration, diminished surface energy, and manageable polarization. Along with the promising assessment of N-doping effect...

Nano-carbon materials are promising canidates for applications in high performance devices, including highly sensitive biosensors. We have developed a self-alignment process for nano-carbon field effect transistors (FETs), using a carbon nanowall (CNW)—a nano-carbon materials—to fabricate CNW-FETs. We measured the pH dependence of the device properties. The binding molecules are known to be key...

Vulcan XC-72 carbon black particles (average size: ca. 50 nm) was incorporated into polyaniline (PANI) matrix by an electrochemical codeposition technique during the electropolymerization process. The doping by carbon particles leads to a higher polymeric degree and a lower defect density in the PANI structure. Furthermore, the incorporation of carbon particles not only increases the electroche...

We report on the strong in uence of carbon doping on 1/f noise in fully epitaxial Fe/MgO(100) 12 ML/Fe magnetic tunnel junctions in comparison with undoped junctions with a large density of barrier defects. Carbon in uences the relaxation of defects, the reconstruction of the interface and the symmetry transformation of interface resonance states, which are suggested to contribute to the strong...
