We report on in situ doping of InAs nanowires grown by metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy without any catalyst particles. The effects of various dopant precursors (Si(2)H(6), H(2)S, DETe, CBr(4)) on the nanowire morphology and the axial and radial growth rates are investigated to select dopants that enable control of the conductivity in a broad range and that concomitantly lead to favorable nano...

We have investigated hall effect on YBa2Cu3-xMxO7-δ (M=Ni, Fe) bulk samples, with dopant amount 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.045 for Ni and 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.03 for Fe, with magnetic field (H=2.52, 4.61, 6.27 kOe) perpendicular to sample’s surface with constant current 100 mA. Our study shows that as both dopants increases, TC decreases and it decreases faster by Ni . In these ranges of dopant and magnetic field the Hall...

The chemical selectivity and great sensitivity of the Extended X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy technique allowed the determination, in the paramagnetic phase, of the structural distortions induced by doping in the spin-Peierls CuGeO3 compound. The distorted environments were analyzed as a function of concentration, magnetic nature of impurity and the substitution site (Ni, Mn and Zn impurities on...

Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) decorated with Cu2O particles were grown on a Ni catalyst layer deposited on a Cu substrate by thermal. chemical vapor deposition from liquid petroleum gas. Ni catalyst nanoparticles with different sizes were produced in an electroplating system at 35˚C. These nanoparticles provide the nucleation sites for CNF growth, removing the need for a buffer layer. High temperat...

Electrical discharges in liquids are considered an efficient and ecological technique of nanoparticle synthesis via controlled erosion electrodes. Herein, we use spark between Co–Co, Ni–Ni, Co–Ni, or Ni–Co electrodes immersed distilled water to synthesize Co and/or Ni nanoparticles, as well their oxides. When mixed used (Co–Ni Ni–Co), both nanoparticles produced, the major species is dictated b...

We experimentally show that it is possible to induce room-temperature ferromagnetic-like behavior in ZnO nanoparticles without doping with magnetic impurities but simply inducing an alteration of their electronic configuration. Capping ZnO nanoparticles ( approximately 10 nm size) with different organic molecules produces an alteration of their electronic configuration that depends on the parti...

To design a high-performance photocatalytic system with TiO2, it is necessary to reduce the bandgap and enhance the absorption efficiency. The reduction of the bandgap to the visible range was investigated with reference to the surface distortion of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles induced by varying Fe doping concentrations. Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles (Fe@TiO2) were synthesized by a hydrothermal me...

Fe(x)Pt(y)Au(100-x-y) nanoparticles of size 3.5 nm were prepared by polyol reduction of platinum acetylacetonate and gold acetate and the thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl. The as-synthesized nanoparticles with disordered fcc structure were then heat treated to transform to the L1(0) structure with high magnetocrystalline anisotropy. By tuning the stoichiometry of the Fe(x)Pt(y)Au(100...

Anisotropic nanostructures of metals are extensively studied due to their sizeand shapedependent properties and interesting growth mechanisms. Usually materials based on noble metals are investigated in this context, although anisotropic nanostructures of other transition metals are also prepared. Spherical as well as anisotropic magnetic nanoparticles are of great interest due to potential app...

in the past 30 years, electroless nickel (en) plating has grown to such proportions that these coatingsand their applications are now found underground, in outer space, and in a myriad of areas inbetween. moreover, in order to further improve the mechanical and tribological properties of thenickel-phosphorous (ni-p) coatings, ni-p/ptfe composite coatings can be obtained, which provideseven grea...
