Among hundreds of impurities and defects in diamond, the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center is one most interesting to be used as a platform for quantum technologies nanosensing. Traditionally, synthetic diamond irradiated with high-energy electrons or nitrogen ions generate these color-centers. For precise positioning NV centers, fs-laser irradiation has been proposed an alternative approach produce...

PURPOSE To determine the efficacy and safety of emergency ureteroscopy (URS) and holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser lithotripsy for ureteral calculi that are associated with acute renal failure (ARF). PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively evaluated a cohort of 49 patients who underwent URS from November 2005 to November 2008 for ARF that was caused by calculi obstruction of the ...

Abstract The difficulty of getting a correct distribution the reinforcement in metal matrix and complexity for achieving good-metallurgy matrix-reinforcement bonding has limited development additive manufacturing composites. This research proposes use reactive atmosphere during fabrication process to obtain titanium composites reinforced with TiN. relation between carrying gas parameters used p...

Laser-driven plasma wakefields can provide hundreds of MeV electron beam in mm-range distances potentially shrinking the dimension actual particle accelerators. The density plays a fundamental role control and stability acceleration process, which is key development for future injector proposed by EuPRAXIA. A gas cell was designed LPGP LIDYL teams, with variable length backing pressure, to conf...

Coherent population trapping is demonstrated in single nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond under optical excitation. For sufficient excitation power, the fluorescence intensity drops almost to the background level when the laser modulation frequency matches the 2.88 GHz splitting of the ground states. The results are well described theoretically by a four-level model, allowing the relative tran...

The Bayesian deconvolution algorithm described in a preceding paper [Appl. Opt. 43, 5669-5681 (2004)] is applied to measurement of the two-dimensional stoichiometry field in a combustible methane-air mixture by Raman imaging through a spectrograph. Stoichiometry (fuel equivalence ratio) is derived from the number density fields of methane and nitrogen, with a signal-to-noise ratio of approximat...

The REMPI spectrum of molecular nitrogen, N2, was examined by tuning a focused ArF excimer laser beam in the range of 51600– 51800 cm 1 and collecting the fluorescence from the Hopfield lines ðBRu –XRg of N2 ). The resulting spectrum was tentatively assigned at the two-photon level to rotational structure in the double aRg – Rg ðIIÞ potential energy well. To our knowledge this double well has n...

An investigation of subnanosecond switching of 119-microm radiation achieved by irradiating high-resistivity silicon wafers with 1.7-ns, 337-nm pulses from a nitrogen laser is presented. The experimental results are compared with a one-dimensional numerical multilayer model, which accounts for the generation, recombination, and diffusion of the free carriers and the resulting change of the far-...

Measurements are reported of the yield and spectrum of fluorescence, excited by a 28.5 GeV electron beam, in air at a range of pressures of interest to ultrahigh energy cosmic ray detectors. The wavelength range was 300 420 nm. System calibration has been performed using Rayleigh scattering of a nitrogen laser beam. In atmospheric pressure dry air at 304 K the yield is 20.8 ± 1.6 photons per MeV.
