A novel design for an ultracompact, high-Q notch-rejection filter is presented, and an analytic expression for the transmission properties is derived. This folded directional coupler shares the properties of a Fabry-Perot resonator and a directional coupler. We compare and contrast the device to high-Q Fabry-Perot cavities in photonic crystal waveguides.

– This paper describes a completely digitally controlled low-harmonic rectifier. It is shown that the dynamics of the outer voltage loop can be significantly improved using a digital notch filter. Low input current harmonics and fast voltage response are experimentally verified using a 200W universal-input boost power supply operating at the switching frequency of 200KHz.

We develop a canonical, adaptive cascade-structure IIR notch filter to detect and track multiple time-varying frequencies in additive white Gaussian noise. The algorithm uses allpass frequency transformation filters and a truncated gradient. Simulations indicate that our algorithm is computationally simple, converges rapidly, and has good frequency resolution.

We demonstrate an automatic tunable transversal notch filter based on uniform fiber Bragg gratings and a broadband optical source. High tunability can be performed by stretching the fiber with the gratings written in series. Also, high sidelobe supression can be achieved by introducing tunable attenuators in a parallel configuration of the gratings.

In this paper, three new methods for two-dimensional (2-D) adaptive notch filter (ANF) are proposed. They not only contain similar and simpler structures but also can be derived by simpler adaptive algorithms compared with the previous ones. They are helpful for 2-D signal processing. Simulation results show that they can eliminate 2-D sinusoidal signals successfully.

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for the detection of howling signal employing LMS adaptive notch filter and digital phase locked loop. The main advantages of the proposed algorithm are that it has very low computational complexity and has a short detection delay.
