We present algorithms that produce a natural watercolor appearance of 3D-scenes and render them in realtime. Our approach imitates the most important natural effects of watercolor and incorporates two essential painting techniques: the wet-in-wet and the wet-on-dry painting. We apply our technique to different scenes, and show how to segment and abstract the content.

Ours is, at its heart, a profession of service predicated on mutual trust. All too often policies aimed at resolving a particular problem in health care are inadequate not because they fail at what they were intended to do, but rather because of the unintended consequences, both direct and indirect, that are inevitable in complex systems where competing interests preclude unity of purpose. Ulti...

Art, in particular painting, has had clear impacts on the style, techniques, and processes of scientific visualization. Artists strive to create visual forms and ideas that are evocative and convey meaning or tell a story. Over time, painters and other artists have developed sophisticated techniques, as well as a finely tuned aesthetic sense, to help accomplish their goals. As visualization res...

Texture mapping is an important research topic in computer graphics. Traditional static texture-maps are limiting for capturing a dynamic and up-to-date picture of the environment. This paper presents a new technique called texture painting from video. By employing live video as the texture resource, we are not only able to create an accurate and photo-realistic rendering of the scene, but also...

ion In this project, a neural network-driven digital image processing method is studied to identify and classify the oil paintings. Traditionally, this authentication work is often entrusted to human experts, whereas it is becoming harder with even more forgeries emerging. Based on the previously contributions of digital image processing and neural network methods, I believe the combination wil...

Mathematics and painting are interrelated in many ways. At a technical level mathematics can be used to enhance our appreciation of paintings. This was recently demonstrated beautifully by Taylor, Micolich, and Jones in their analysis of Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings, which led them to the conclusion that Pollock’s paintings are in a way Ž gurative pictures. Relations also exist at a more ba...

This paper proposes a novel algorithmic framework for an advanced virtual brush to be used in interactive digital painting. The framework comprises the following components: a geometry model of the brush using a hierarchical representation that leads to substantial savings in every step of the painting process; fast online brush motion simulation assisted by offline calibration that guarantees ...

Dose painting radiotherapy is considered a promising radiotherapy technology that enables more targeted dose delivery to tumor rich regions while saving critical normal tissues. Obviously, dose painting planning would be more complicated and hard to be evaluated with current plan quality index systems that were developed under the paradigm of uniform dose prescription. In this study, we introdu...

Ever since the establishment by Virchow of a n etiological theory of cancer due to irritation, cancer investigators have attempted to find a means of producing cancer experimentally by some form of irritation. The first successful results were reported by Yamagiwa and Itchikawa in 1915, using rabbits ,the ears of which were painted with coal-tar every second or third day. In 1918 Tsutsui publis...

The polymer solar cells were fabricated by a novel solution coating process, the roller painting. The roller painted film composed of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) has smoother surface than the spin coated film. Since the roller painting is accompanied with shear and normal stresses and is also a s low drying process, the process induces eff...
