A rare case of pleomorphic adenoma arising from the nasal septum is presented. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of a 65- year-old woman who presented with right sided nasal obstruction, nasal discharge and epistaxis revealed a well-defined lobular mass occupying the right nasal cavity. Histopathologic examination revealed a pleomorphic adenoma. CT and MRI findings o...

We present an extremely rare case of a pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the true vocal fold. The histopathological diagnosis was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The patient was treated with radical surgery including total laryngectomy and radical neck dissection followed by postoperative radiotherapy. The clinicopathologic features of this rare malignancy are discussed together with a review ...

We present a case of a tumour in a 12-year-old mentally normal girl, who presented with a painless forehead swelling. Imaging studies demonstrated a large lesion within the right frontal lobe with erosion through the frontal bone. Histological diagnosis met all the criteria of glioblastoma with evidence of florid bone invasion. DNA methylation analysis, however, demonstrated features consistent...

BACKGROUND Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) arises most commonly in the proximal extremities of the elderly, where it may involve subcutaneous and dermal tissues and masquerade as benign entities in limited biopsy samples. We encountered such a case, in which positivity for CD34 and morphologic features were initially wrongly interpreted as a 'low-fat/fat-free' spindle cell/pleomorphic lipoma. Case serie...

Sarcomas of breast are rare tumors. Primary mammary liposarcomas are rarer still. Peak incidence of breast liposarcomas in adults occur between 4th and 6th decades. We report a case of primary breast pleomorphic liposarcoma in a 70 years old female patient. FNAC of the tumor was non-specific. However, histopathological along with immunohistichemical studies clinched the diagnosis.

When Bradyrhizobium japonicum I-110 was transferred into medium containing 40 mM succinate or 40 mM fumarate, over 90% of the bacteria acquired a swollen, pleomorphic form similar to that of bacteroids. The induction of pleomorphism was dependent on the carbon substrate and concentration but was independent of the hydrogen ion and sodium ion concentration. Cell extracts of rod-shaped and pleomo...

Pleomorphic adenoma is one of the most frequent tumors that involve the parotid gland. The tumor constantly increases in dimension if not cured in due time and may become malignant. A case of a patient suffering from a carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma that had a 20-year-evolution and reached impressive dimensions is presented. The tumor holds the second place worldwide among the largest carcino...

Malignant myoepithelioma is a very rare salivary gland tumor that can arise de novo or within a pre-existing pleomorphic adenoma. We report a case of malignant myoepithelioma most probably arising in a pre-existing pleomorphic adenoma of the left parotid gland. The patient was a 60-year-old man who presented with a multinodular mass lesion over left side of the face and neck. He had undergone r...

Salivary gland tumours are estimated to represent approximately 3% of all head and neck tumours. About 70-80% of these neoplasms occur in the major salivary glands, with the parotid gland being the most commonly affected site. The metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma (MPA) has histological characteristics of pleomorphic adenoma, but it has the capacity to generate local recurrences and distant met...

The salivary glands are divided into major and minor/accessory glands. Tumours are not rare in salivary glands and are mainly found in major salivary glands. Tumours of accessory salivary glands are relatively less common. Accessory parotid gland is a small unit of salivary gland tissue lying on the masseter muscle and seperated from the main parotid gland with an accessory duct draining into t...
