solute transport processes are affected by soil pore water velocity distribution. pore size distribution, which can be used to infer pore water velocity distribution, can be estimated from a soil water retention curve (n). in this study, a solute breakthrough curve was simulated using soil hydraulic parameters in four different soils. to evaluate the proposed model, predictions were compared to...

Chemical reaction speed is frequently enhanced at a surface, particularly when materials like platinum are present. It is well known that porous materials such as sol-gel silicas, controlled pore glasses, templated porous materials such as SBA-15, MCM-41, MCM-48, and zeolites, offer large surface areas. This in turn makes them ideal for catalysing chemical reactions. Thus an important use for p...

Several methodologies published in the literature can be used to construct realistic pore networks for simple rocks, whereas in complex pore geometry formations, as formed in tight reservoirs, such a construction still remains a challenge. A basic understanding of pore structure and topology is essential to overcome the challenges associated with the pore scale modeling of tight porous media. A...

Different transmembrane (TM) α helices are known to line the pore of the cystic fibrosis TM conductance regulator (CFTR) Cl(-) channel. However, the relative alignment of these TMs in the three-dimensional structure of the pore is not known. We have used patch-clamp recording to investigate the accessibility of cytoplasmically applied cysteine-reactive reagents to cysteines introduced along the...

We investigate the dynamics of polymer translocation through a nanopore using two-dimensional Langevin dynamics simulations. In the absence of an external driving force, we consider a polymer which is initially placed in the middle of the pore and study the escape time tau(e) required for the polymer to completely exit the pore on either side. The distribution of the escape times is wide and ha...

Oligoribonucleotides with chain length of 7, 11, 15, 17, 24 and 34 were synthesized on long chain alkylamine controlled pore glass beads (LCA-CPG) using o-nitrobenzyl protection of 2'-hydroxyls via a H-phosphonate approach either manually or by using an automatic synthesizer. The oligoribonucleotides were obtained in yields of 0.6 0.6-20%, based on initial nucleoside bound to the LCA-CPG support.
