COVID-19 exposed the need to identify newer tools understand perception of information, behavioral conformance instructions and model effects individual motivation decisions on success measures being put in place. We approach this challenge through lens serious games. Serious games are designed instruct inform within confines their magic circle. built a multiplayer game, Point Contact (PoC), in...

We propose a measurement setup for detecting quantum noise over a wide frequency range using inelastic transitions in a tunable two-level system as a detector. The frequency-resolving detector consists of a double quantum dot which is capacitively coupled to the leads of a nearby mesoscopic conductor. The inelastic current through the double quantum dot is calculated in response to equilibrium ...

We provide a physical analysis of the charging and detection of the first few electrons in a laterally coupled GaAs/AlGaAs quantum-dot ~LCQD! circuit with integrated quantum point contact read-out. Our analysis is based on the numerical solution of the Kohn-Sham equation incorporated into a three-dimensional selfconsistent scheme for simulating the quantum device. Electronic states and eigenene...

We show that nanoscale doping profiles inside a nanocolumn in combination with Fermi-level pinning at the surface give rise to the formation of a saddlepoint in the potential profile. Consequently, the lateral confinement inside the channel varies along the transport direction, yielding an embedded quantum point contact. An analytical estimation of the quantization energies will be given.

The recently developed AFM local anodic oxidation (LAO) technique offers a convenient way of patterning nanodevices, but imposes even more stringent requirements on the underlying quantum well structure. We developed a new very shallow quantum well design which allows the depth and density of the 2D gas to be independently controlled during the growth. A high mobility (0.5×106 cm2 V−1 s−1 at 4....

The ν=5/2 anti-Pfaffian state and the ν=2/3 state are believed to have an edge composed of counterpropagating charge and neutral modes. This situation allows the generation of a pure thermal bias between two composite edge states across a quantum point contact as was experimentally established by Bid et al. [Nature 466, 585 (2010)]. We show that replacing the quantum point contact by a quantum ...
