A conserved organizational feature of eukaryotic nuclei is the peripheral heterochromatin compartment, which provides a protected area for epigenetically silent genes and gene-poor DNA. In metazoan cells this compartment is associated with the nuclear lamina, the protein meshwork at the inner edge of the nucleus. Heterochromatin-nuclear lamina interactions promote epigenetic gene silencing, whi...

Many examples exist of biological self-assembled structures that restructure in response to external stimuli, then return to their previous state over a defined time scale, but most synthetic investigations so far have focused on systems that switch between states representing energetic minima upon stimulus application. Here we report an approach in which triphenylphosphine is used as a chemica...

Taking advantage of a chaperone-like function of MalK, a stable complex of MalF-MalG could be solubilized from the Escherichia coli membrane and purified in high yield in the absence of MalK. This MalF-MalG complex was competent for efficient reassembly of a functional MalFGK(2) maltose transporter complex both in detergent solution and in proteoliposomes.

The outer sheath carrying a polygonal array was isolated from an oral treponeme, Treponema sp. strain E-21, by disruption of cells by means of repeated freeze-thawing and by removal of flagella under acidic conditions followed by linear sucrose density gradient centrifugation. Electron microscopy revealed that the outer sheath was isolated as a triple-layered vesicle having a polygonal array, f...

Circular Bioeconomy The food–materials–energy nexus is most relevant to the circular bioeconomy and reviewed in context of next-generation bioplastics by Caio G. Otoni, Orlando J. Rojas, co-workers article number 2102520. state-of-the-art strategies used upcycle agri-food losses wastes (FLW) into multifunctional advanced materials rely on deconstruction reassembly, synthesis, engineering FLW-de...

A genetically encodable caspase-3 sensing system has been created using self-assembling split-GFP, in which a C-terminal fragment is "covalently" cyclized via a caspase-3 substrate sequence mediated by split-intein. The specific cleavage of the cyclic C-terminal fragment by caspase-3 induces the GFP reassembly and fluorescence recovery.

We examine our progress in scheduling remanufacturing operations by reviewing the literature in detail. We individually examine published research in scheduling disassembly, remanufacturing/repair, and reassembly operations and their integration. The objective functions/performance criteria, quantitative methodologies, and complexities/issues are examined. Finally, an overall assessment of our ...

This report presents a brief overview and classification of intra-piconet polling schemes for Bluetooth piconets. It also presents a similar overview and classification of bridge scheduling algorithms for Bluetooth scatternets. Some additional issues, in particular the transmission of TCP/IP traffic over Bluetooth, and segmentation and reassembly policies, are discussed as well.

Recent breakthroughs in genomics have significantly reduced the cost of short-read genomic sequencing (determining the order of the nucleotide bases in a molecule of DNA). Therefore, to a large extent, the task of full genomic reassembly—often referred to as secondary analysis

Tubulin from bovine brain was polymerized in vitro using a variety of assembly conditions. Many of the formed microtubules were shown to contain 14 wall protofilaments. The number of microtubules containing 14 protofilaments increased with consecutive repetitions of cold-dissociation followed by reassembly in vitro.
