In process of fabrication of a fixed partial denture, dies are trimmed to expose margins of the preparations. The need for the soft tissue cast is quite evident as the soft tissue emergence profile that surrounds the prepared tooth is destroyed in the process of fabrication. This article describes a modified technique to fabricate the soft tissue cast for the conventional fixed partial denture....

The aim of the study was to compare the adhesion of oral microorganisms to different types of soft liner and acrylic resin surfaces. Three different soft lining materials were applied to cavities formed on the fitting surfaces of prostheses in 17 patients. On days 1, 7 and 14, the specimens were taken out and immediately processed for bacteriological evaluation. The numbers of adhering microorg...

The shell liner type, rotation speed, and ball filling percent are the key factors influencing the charge behavior inside the SAG mills, and consequently, their performance. In this work, the milling operation of industrial SAG mills is investigated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). First, an industrial SAG mill with dimensions of 9.50 m × 4.42 m that has a Smooth-type liner is sim...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Two problems found in prostheses with soft liners are bond failure to the acrylic resin base and loss of elasticity due to material aging. PURPOSE This in vitro study evaluated the effect of thermocycling on the bond strength and elasticity of 4 long-term soft denture liners to acrylic resin bases. MATERIAL AND METHODS Four soft lining materials (Molloplast-B, Flexor, P...

PURPOSE The bond strength of soft denture liner to a recently introduced denture base resin after thermocycling has not been compared to traditional denture base materials. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of thermocycling on the tensile bond strength of soft denture liners to two chemically different denture base resins, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and urethane dim...

Soft bearing materials that aim to reproduce the tribological function of the natural joint are gaining popularity as an alternative concept to conventional hard bearing materials in the hip and knee. However, it has not been proven so far that an elastic cushion bearing can be sufficiently durable as a long term (∼20 years) articulating joint prosthesis. The use of new bearing materials should...

This paper presents the results of a high resolution radio imaging survey of 83 of the 118 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) in the IRAS 1 Jy ULIRG sample. We have observed these ULIRGs at 15 GHz with the Very Large Array (VLA). We find that ∼75% of Seyferts (both type 1 and 2) and LINERs have radio nuclei which are compact at our 150 mas resolution. The detection rate of H II nuclei is ...

OBJECTIVE To compare the wear of conventional ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (CUHMWPE) and highly cross-linked polyethylene (HCLPE) in hip revision with liner exchange fixed with original locking mechanism using analysis of history medical data. METHODS From Jan. 1, 2000, to Dec. 31, 2007, 26 patients (with 29 involved hips) underwent liner exchange revision fixed with the original ...

This project was developed to provide design criteria for landfill disposal sites used for sludges such as those generated using the Clean Coal Technologies (CCT) tested at the Public Service Company of Colorado's Arapahoe Power Plant. The CCT wastes used were produced at the Arapahoe Plant Unit No.4 that was equipped with the integrated dry NOx/SO2 emissions control system installed under the ...
