We present results from a coordinated XMM-Newton+NuSTAR observation of the type 1.8 Seyfert galaxy IRAS 13197-1627. This is a highly complex source, with strong contributions from relativistic reflection from the inner accretion disk, neutral absorption and further reprocessing by more distant material, and ionised absorption from an outflow. We undertake a detailed spectral analysis combining ...

General relativistic numerical simulations of magnetized accretion flows around black holes show accreting gas with chaotic motions at equatorial latitudes and coronae and outflows with chaotic magnetic field at higher latitudes. However, the same simulations also produce highly relativistic, Poynting-dominated jets that are nearly consistent with the stationary paraboloidal Blandford-Znajek mo...

We present deep H i 21 cm and optical observations of the face-on spiral galaxy M 83 obtained as part of a project to search for high-velocity clouds (HVCs) in nearby galaxies. Anomalous-velocity neutral gas is detected toward M 83, with 5.6 × 107 M of H i contained in a disk rotating 40–50 km s−1 more slowly in projection than the bulk of the gas. We interpret this as a vertically extended thi...

In paper I, we showed that time-dependent general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) numerical models of accretion disks, although being highly turbulent, have surprisingly simple electromagnetic properties. In particular, the toroidal current density in the disk takes the form dIφ/dr ∝ r . Guided by this simplicity, we use a time-dependent general relativistic force-free electrodynamics ...

The cone–disk apparatus consists of a cone that touches the disk at its apex and is used in medical evices, viscosimeters, conical diffusers, etc. Theoretically, three-dimensional flow nanofluid gap studied for four different physical configurations. Buongiorno model, consisting thermophoresis Brownian diffusion mechanisms, to describe convective heat transport nanofluid. continuity equation, N...

This paper describes dynamic self-assembly of millimeter-sized objects rotating at two parallel fluid interfaces and interacting with one another hydrodynamically, both in the plane of the interface and between the interfaces. The nature of hydrodynamic interactions between the objects rotating on different interfaces and, consequently, the morphologies of the ordered structures that self-assem...

We discuss the effect of the Poynting flow on the magnetically dominated thin accretion disk, which is simplified to a two-dimensional disk on the equatorial plane. It is shown in the relativistic formulation that the Poynting flux by the rotating magnetic field with Keplerian angular velocity can balance the energy and angular momentum conservation of a steady accretion flow. Pursuant to the high usage of rotating the disk in aircraft gas turbine engine, turbo pumps in oil and gas industries, steam and gas turbines in power plants, marine gas turbine and other industrial rotary machines designing and getting under the mechanical and thermal loading casued this design and analysis to be as a special significance. These disks are subjected to mechanical and thermal lo...

We report 0. ′′ 5 × 0. ′′ 9 resolution, interferometric observations of the 1.3 mm CO J=2→1 line in the infrared luminous galactic merger NGC 6240 2. About half of the CO flux is concentrated in a rotating but highly turbulent, thick disk structure centered between the two radio and near-infrared nuclei. A number of gas features connect this ∼500 pc diameter central disk to larger scales.

A detailed study of the Counter-Rotating Model (CRM) for generic electrostatic (magnetostatic) axially symmetric thin disks without radial pressure is presented. We find a general constraint over the counter-rotating tangential velocities needed to cast the surface energy-momentum tensor of the disk as the superposition of two counter-rotating charged dust fluids. We then show that this constra...
