Abstract How can we engage the secular in ways that encourage empirical investigations of its specific and embodied expressions? Locating particular places situations invites scholar to recognize it, say “there it is.” However, seems difficult pin down precisely: quickly expands into everything is not considered religion a given context, distinctively evaporate nothing. This article explores sl...

New observations in favour of a significant role of secular evolution are reviewed: central star formation boosted in pseudo-bulge barred galaxies, relations between bulge and disk, evidence for rejuvenated bulges. Numerical simulations have shown that secular evolution can occur through a cycle of bar formation and destruction, in which the gas plays a major role. Since bars are weakened or de...

We perform numerical simulations to study the secular orbital evolution and dynamical structure in the HD 69830 planetary system, using the best-fit orbital solutions by Lovis and coworkers. In the simulations, we show that a triplet Neptunian system is stable for at least 2 Gyr and that the stability would not be greatly influenced even if we varied the planetary masses. In addition, we employ...

Secular trends of the incidence of NCDs are especially important as they indicate changes of the risk profile of a population. The article describes a method for detecting secular trends in the incidence from a series of prevalence data without requiring costly follow-up studies or running a register. After describing the theory, the method is applied to the incidence of diabetes in Denmark.

A fast and efficient numerical integration algorithm is presented for the problem of the secular evolution of the spin axis. Under the assumption that a celestial body rotates around its maximum moment of inertia, the equations of motion are reduced to the Hamiltonian form with a Lie-Poisson bracket. The integration method is based on the splitting of the Hamiltonian function and so it conserve...

In previous papers [1,2,3] relating to the concept of Combined Gravitational Action (CGA) we have established the CGA-theoretical foundations as an alternative gravity theory that already allowed us to resolve -in its contextsome unexpected and defiant problems occurred inside and outside the Solar System like, e.g., the anomalous Pioneer 10’s deceleration; the observed secular increase of the ...
