To implement a maintenance free and reliable sensor network is necessary in complex sensor systems nowadays. There are studies, which can control developers, who want to build an autonomous sensor network in a dynamically changing environment. The existing solutions have several drawbacks because of the diversity and complexity of the wireless type sensor networks. This paper introduces a senso...

Grids of computing and storage resources have been extended with a new type of resources, the instruments, in what is referred to as instrumentation grids. Sensor grids can be viewed as an instance of instrumentation grids, whereby wireless sensor networks are integrated within a distributed computing/storage resource-sharing environment. They enable wireless sensor networks with computing powe...

fe2+ ion-selective membrane sensor has been fabricated from polyvinyl chloride (pvc) matrixmembrane containing neutral carrier tetra phenyl porphyrin (tpp) ionophore. the addition ofsodium tetraphenylborate (natpb) and the plasticizer dbp has been found to substantiallyimprove the performance of the sensor. the best performance was obtained with the sensor havinga membrane of composition of tpp...

We consider the problem of retrieving a reliable estimate of an attribute monitored by a wireless sensor network, where the sensors harvest energy from the environment independently, at random. Each sensor stores the harvested energy in batteries of limited capacity. Moreover, provided they have sufficient energy, the sensors broadcast their measurements in a decentralized fashion. Clients arri...

A CMOS active pixel sensor that achieves wide intrascene dynamic range using dual sampling is reported. A 64 64 element prototype sensor with dual output architecture was fabricated using a 1.2m n-well CMOS process with 20.4m pitch photodiode-type active pixels. The sensor achieves an intrascene dynamic range of 109 dB without nonlinear companding.

We describe the use of a analog VLSI vision sensor for fixation of a 1D image. The sensor, which contains processing circuitry to con-volve the image with a Gabor-type filter, is mounted on a mobile robot. Experimental results indicate that a simple proportional feedback loop using only two outputs of the sensor to command the velocity of the robot can successfully fixate a moving image on the ...

This manuscript reports on the development of a needle-type sensor for in situ on-site measurement of pH. Conventional pH microelectrode sensors are fabricated by pulling glass pipettes and applying ion-selective films at the tip. However, these sensors suffer from low fabrication yields and short sensor lifetime due to disruption or loss of the ion-selective membrane after repeated use. The de...

The reductive effect of pectin on tea catechin astringency was investigated by using a taste sensor system and (1)H-NMR spectroscopy. The sensor analysis revealed that the astringency of gallate-type catechins (EGCg and ECg) was reduced by the addition of pectin, whereas that of non-gallate-type catechins (EGC and EC) hardly changed. Changes in the (1)H-NMR chemical shifts of the catechins and ...

A 1024 8 time-gated, single-photon avalanche diode line sensor is presented for time-resolved laser Raman spectroscopy and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. Two different chip geometries were implemented and characterized. A type-I sensor has a maximum photon detection efficiency of 0.3% and median dark count rate of 80 Hz at 3 V of excess bias. A type-II sensor offers a maximum photon dete...

In this paper, we intend to focus on the sensor network applications in firefighting. A distributed algorithm is developed for the sensor network to guide firefighters through a burning area. The sensor network models the danger of the area under coverage as obstacles, and has the property to adapt itself against possible changes. The protocol developed, will integrate the artificial potential ...
