lectin binding histochemistry was performed on the developing sympathetic ganglionic cells to investigate the distribution and density of defined carbohydrate terminals on the cell surface glycoproteins during autonomic system morphogenesis. sprague-dauley rat embryos from 9th gestational day to birth were fixed and paraffinized. serial sections of these specimens were incubated with different ...

In silico approaches to the identification of bacterial promoters are hampered by poor conservation of their characteristic binding sites. This suggests that the usual position weight matrix models of bacterial promoters are incomplete. A number of methods have been used to overcome this inadequacy, one of which is to incorporate structural properties of DNA. In this paper we describe an extens...

Most of the position weight matrix (PWM) based bioinformatics methods developed to predict transcription factor binding sites (TFBS) assume each nucleotide in the sequence motif contributes independently to the interaction between protein and DNA sequence, usually producing high false positive predictions. The increasing availability of TF enrichment profiles from recent ChIP-Seq methodology fa...

X-ray crystallagraphic studies studies indicate that there are at least four site-specifically bound hydrated Mg2+ ions, [Mg(H2O)n]2+, in yeast tRNAPhe. The size and the octahedral coordination geometry, rather than the charge, of [Mg(H2O)N]2+ appear to be the primary reasons for the specificity of magnesium ions in site-binding and in the stabilization of the tertiary structure of tRNA.

We have solved the crystal structure of an all-RNA hammerhead ribozyme having a single 2'-O-methyl cytosine incorporated at the active site to prevent cleavage. The conditions used differ from those in another recent solution in four significant ways: first, it is an all-RNA ribozyme rather than a DNA-RNA hybrid; second, the connectivity of the ribozyme backbone strands is different; third, the...

a novel ternary schiff base ligand (hl) of ono type and its copper (ii) complex weresynthesised using 2-aminophenol and o-acetoacetotoluidide. they have been characterised by theusual analytical and spectral methods. the interaction of the complex with calf-thymus (ct)dna has been investigated by uv-vis, viscosity measurement, cyclic voltammetry anddifferential pulse voltammetry studies. the re...

Improved survival among transfusion dependent thalassemia patients in recent years has led to the manifestation of morbidities such as renal dysfunction. Renal injury is still an underestimated complication in β thalassemia major patients. Chronic anemia, iron overload due to repeated transfusion, and specific iron chelators are the main factors in pathogenesis of renal dysfunction in β thalass...
