Non-covalent interactions of aromatics are important in a wide range of chemical and biological applications. The past two decades have seen numerous reports of arene-arene binding being understood in terms Hammett substituent constants, and similar analyses have recently been extended to cation-arene and anion-arene binding. It is not immediately clear why electrostatic Hammett parameters shou...

The purpose of this study is to evaluate in vivo antitumor efficacy of two arene ruthenium complexes, [(η6-arene) RuCl (2-pcdpm)] complex 1 and [(η6-arene) RuCl(4-mtdpm)] complex 2 (η6-arene = C10H14), containing new chelating ligands [(2-pcdpm) = 4-(2-methoxypyridyl)-phenyldipyrromethene] and [4-mtdpm = 5-(4methylthiophenyl)-dipyrromethene] respectively. Recently, we reported their potential a...

Sixteen arene-Ru based molecular-rectangles were self-assembled in high yields by the equimolar mixing of arene-Ru acceptors (Aa-Ad) with various azopyridyl ligands (1,2-di(pyridyl-4yl)diazene (L1), 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine (L2), 1,2-bis(1-(pyridin-4-yl)ethylidene)hydrazine (L3), 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine (L4)) in nitromethane-methanol solutions. These new molecular...

The title compound, C42H48O6, was obtained via formyl-ation of 25,26,27,28-tetra-propoxycalix[4]arene with dichloro-methyl methyl ether and tin tetra-chloride. It adopts a pinched cone conformation, which leads to an open cavity. The two opposite aromatic rings bearing formyl groups are almost parallel, making a dihedral angle of 29.1 (2)°. The other pair of opposite rings are close to being pe...

The upper rim cone tetraguanidinocalix[4]arene 1 is a highly effective catalyst of ATP hydrolysis. The catalytically most active species is the triprotonated form of the catalyst. The three protonated guanidinium groups provide the electrostatic driving force for substrate binding and activation, while the neutral guanidine most likely acts as a nucleophilic catalyst.

The title compound, C(18)H(19)NO(4), was prepared as an indole derivative with possible anti-mitotic properties. The planes of the indole and trimethoxy-phenyl rings make a dihedral angle of 45.35 (5)° with one another. In the crystal, mol-ecules related by a twofold screw axis exhibit arene C-H⋯arene-π inter-actions which are 3.035 (1) Å in length.
