Immature gastric teratoma is an uncommon germ cell tumor of the stomach. We report a rare case of immature gastric teratoma in an infant with down syndrome with clinically presenting with hematemesis and severe anemia. Complete surgical resection remains the cornerstone of treatment.
Mature cystic teratomas account for 10-20% of all ovarian neoplasms and are the most common neoplasm in younger patients. Spontaneous rupture of the teratoma is rare and has been occasionally reported. Here we present an unusual case of left ovarian teratoma rupturing into sigmoid colon.
The use of monoclonal antibodies which can be raised to antigens of choice offers a selective and specific approach for the detection of tumours both in vivo and at a cellular level in biopsy specimens. We demonstrate that a monoclonal antibody raised to human teratoma will localise in a teratoma, growing as a xenograft in immune-suppressed mice.
A newborn baby had an orbital-intracranial benign teratoma radically excised with preservation of the eye. Three years later she developed recurrent proptosis, and reoperation showed an invasive orbital tumour that histologically was a malignant germ-cell neoplasm. The relationship of the two tumours is discussed. Malignant change in a benign orbital-intracranial teratoma of the newborn has not...
We present the first report of an immature teratoma arising from a germ cell testicular cancer invading the duodenum. While other seminomatous and non-seminomatous germ cell tumors are known to metastasize to the duodenum, this is the first such case involving an immature teratoma directly invading the duodenum from a metastatic retroperitoneal mass.
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma: A case report Massa E, Mouloudi E, Kydona Ch, Papadopoulos S, Sgourou K, Gritsi-Gerogianni N We report a rare case of a young woman with anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis, who developed psychiatric symptoms, dyskinesias, hypoventilation, hypersalivation and seizures. Serial analysis of antibo...
INTRODUCTION Fetal tumors are relatively rare and the early prenatal diagnosis enables the prediction of possible complications and decision for appropriate treatment. This paper deals with the role of ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging in the early prenatal diagnosis of sacrococcygeal teratoma. CASE REPORT A 21-year-old primigravida was found to have a large sacrococcygeal tumor ...

BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2013200862 DESCRIPTION We present images of an infected and ruptured retroperitoneal teratoma in an 8-month-old baby girl, who presented with a 2-week history of lowgrade intermittent fever and failure to thrive. On arrival at the hospital, she was lethargic, febr...
Mature cystic teratoma is the most common ovarian tumor in young females. We are presenting a 13-year-old African-American female with abdominal distension. Computed tomography of the abdomen showed midline cystic mass. Diagnosis was confirmed after laparoscopic left salpingo-oophorectomy. Malignant transformation of mature cystic teratoma is rare.
Preoperative diagnosis of malignant transformation of an ovarian mature cystic teratoma to squamous cell carcinoma is difficult due to nonspecific tumor markers and imaging findings. This is an interesting case presentation that has prior imaging that demonstrates imaging characteristics of the transformation of a mature cystic teratoma to squamous cell carcinoma.
