Width-controlled M-type hexagonal SrFe12O19 nanoribbons were synthesized for the first time via polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) sol assisted electrospinning followed by heat treatment in air, and their chemical composition, microstructure and magnetic performance were investigated. Results demonstrated that as-obtained SrFe12O19 nanoribbons were well-crystallized with high purity. Each nanoribbon wa...

Congo red dye as well as other eagerly self-assembling organic molecules which form rod-like or ribbon-like supramolecular structures in water solutions, appears to represent a new class of protein ligands with possible wide-ranging medical applications. Such molecules associate with proteins as integral clusters and preferentially penetrate into areas of low molecular stability. Abnormal, part...

Hastelloy C22 and Inconel 600 and 601 alloys specimens were cyclically deformed. Specimens were sectioned and investigated. Results indicated that the grain structure of Hastelloy C22 revealed planar slip bands, whereas Inconel 600 and 601 showed slip bands having triangular ribbon morphology. The triangular ribbon bands were more distinct in Inconel 601 than in Inconel 600.

The synaptic ribbon in neurons that release transmitter via graded potentials has been considered as a conveyor belt that actively moves vesicles toward their release sites. But evidence has accumulated to the contrary, and it now seems plausible that the ribbon serves instead as a safety belt to tether vesicles stably in mutual contact and thus facilitate multivesicular release by compound exo...

The problem of classifying all tile-k-transitive tilings of the innnite 2-dimensional ribbon (and pinched-ribbon) is shown to be solvable by classifying certain tile-k-transitive tilings of the sphere, for all k 2 N. Complete results are listed for k 3.
